Sapporo Snow Festival
The Sapporo Snow Festival (さっぽろ雪まつり, Sapporo Yuki Matsuri) is held during one week every February in Hokkaido's capital Sapporo. It is one of Japan's most popular winter events. The Sapporo Snow Festival was started in 1950, when high school students built a few snow statues in Odori Park. It has since developed into a large, commercialized event, featuring spectacular snow and ice sculptures and attracting more than two million visitors from Japan and across the world. The snow festival is staged on three sites: the Odori Site, Susukino Site and Tsu Dome Site.
Moerenuma Park
Moerenuma Park (モエレ沼公園, Moerenuma Kōen) is a large park in the outskirts of Sapporo. Surrounded by a marsh, the park has a circumference of about four kilometers. The grounds are covered in attractive green space and there are massive, dramatic features that make the park a very unique public space. The park owes its bold design to the renowned Japanese American sculptor Isamu Noguchi. Born in the United States, Noguchi spent a considerable part of his professional life in Japan and maintained a workshop in Takamatsu. In 1988 the city of Sapporo entrusted Noguchi with the creation of a park on the spacious grounds of a landfill. Shortly after the plans were completed, Noguchi passed away, but his designs were carried out and the park was opened to the public in 2005.

5.00Roy Aoki was very knowledgeable about Sapporo and helped me plan a custom trip suited to my needs. We were able to walk around Sapporo in refreshing weather, visiting the Sapporo Beer Museum, Tower 38 Observatory, Odori Park among others. The tour guide Roy Aoki also spoke excellent English and we were able to discuss many things about Sapporo

5.00I had a great experience with Aoki Roy. He was very knowledgeable about Sapporo and the sights. He was also very well versed in English and we were able to talk about many things about Sapporo and local customs. I was only able to spare one day for the walk around Sapporo but we were able to make the most of it by customizing the tour to nearby places near Odori Park. It was also quite fortunate that there was a festival at the Odori Park.

5.00We had a wonderful city tour with Tom in Sapporo! He was very knowledgeable about Hokkaido's history and culture and had a lot of great stories to share. He was extremely friendly and patient as well. Highly recommend booking a tour with Tom if you want to see Sapporo's highlights in a day! He also does tours further out of Sapporo city center.

5.00I loved this customizable tour with our tour guide Tom! He was both helpful and very knowledgeable, offering great recommendations and insight into Sapporo. Tom was very responsive during the planning of our tour and gave great suggestions on where to go. He also offered to take lots of pictures for us which was very nice of him. We ended up going over our tour time at the last location and we let him know that he could leave if he needed to, but he stuck with us and made sure we got home without getting lost. I would highly recommend this tour! My only regret was not doing it sooner, so we could do more of his other suggestions before we left Sapporo!
