Our tour begins at Nøstet, one of the most beautiful and historic neighbourhoods in Bergen. For many centuries, this neighbourhood was a rough sailor's quarters separate from the city of Bergen. Today it is recognised as being the best-preserved part of the city and is where you'll explore charming narrow alleys known only to locals. The area is characterized by narrow streets lined with colorful clapboard houses, reflecting Bergen's rich maritime heritage. Strolling through Nøstet provides a unique experience, as the neighbourhood has retained much of its original charm despite modern developments.
After exploring the sailor's quarters of Nøstet, you know head into the famous neighbourhood of Nordnes. Historically owned by a wealthy monastery, Nordnes developed in the 16th century as the direct competitors to the powerful Hanseatic League at Bryggen. It was also the site of crime and punishment, with Bergen's execution sites placed here. Today Nordnes prides itself on being a separate part of the city of Bergen despite only having 8,000 people living here. It is famous for its parks, narrow alleys, cafes, and fjord swimming. Here you'll learn about everyday life in Bergen - how much does a house cost? How does education work? Our expert guides will answer all the questions on your mind!

This tour is extremely convenient if you come via a cruise ship - it starts just minutes from the port. Our guide took us through the neighborhood near the port, shared a great deal of Bergen's history with us, and then led us through the famous fish market, ending nearby. I found it interesting and informative - I just wish we had seen a little more of the city.

We loved our small group walking tour of Bergen. It started close to the port and ended in the World Heritage area. Our guide, Jordan, spoke excellent English (he was from Canada originally) and he was always easy to hear. We learned so much about Bergen's history and about living there now. Since the group was small, it was easy to ask questions and Jordan provided thoughtful answers. Along the way, he gave us tips about activities such as the funicular, places to eat or enjoy an ice cream or coffee, and special Norwegian foods such as brown cheese. I am 100% glad that we picked this tour.

This was an excellent tour. Magda was an excellent tour guide. She gave us so much history, and information about Bergen. She answered questions and gave recommendations for restaurants that were right on. The walk went to interesting places in Bergen and I loved that our group was small--8 people
