Travel to the Schist Villages of Serra da Lousã, a group of small villages of shepherds spread across the mountains.
The visit begins at the Village of Cerdeira, right in the heart of the mountains. It is a place of artistic inspiration based on the School of Arts and Crafts that promote art and creativity in line with the silence and the surrounding natural wealth.
We continue through the Village of Candal. Nestled in the mountains on a hill facing south, the visitor walks through the narrow, steep streets and from the top of the viewpoint contemplates the beautiful views over the valley.
The Village of Talasnal, the largest and best preserved. Discovering the village through the narrow, steep streets of the hillside is timeless.
We return to Coimbra after this journey "in time" to our rural ancestor.

It was a outstanding trip. Our guide Xavier, was fantastic. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Visited 3 villages, and had a nice coffee and Biera brake. I highly recommend this trip.

Xavier’s knowledge, experience and ability to communicate were all quite remarkable. He tailored his narrative to our questions & specific interests. He explained not only the history , but the unique cultural importance of the Schist villages to us.

This was a highlight of our trip. We loved getting out in the country, seeing the views & step climbing up the wazoo !!

Our guide was great-he knew a lot about the sites. What makes me less likely to refer this tour to someone else is first of all the difficulty of the climbs. Secondly, since the properties we toured had been mostly renovated, it didn't give us a true glimpse of the villages during medieval times.

We enjoyed spending the morning with Pedro exploring the three Schist Villages. These villages are unique and very interesting. Pedro was an excellent tour guide providing us with lots of information. He was a careful driving on the mountain roads. Thank you Pedro. We highly recommend visiting these Schist villages.
