Sighisoara

Sighișoara, a jewel of Transylvania, is one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval towns and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Founded by Transylvanian Saxons in the 12th century, it boasts cobbled streets, colorful houses, and the iconic Clock Tower. Steeped in history, Sighișoara is the birthplace of Vlad Țepeș—known as Vlad the Impaler—whose legacy inspired the Dracula legend. Viscri

Viscri is a picturesque Transylvanian village, renowned for its timeless charm and Saxon heritage. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is home to a beautifully preserved 12th-century fortified church, a symbol of the region’s medieval roots. Founded by Saxon settlers, Viscri has retained its traditional architecture and rural lifestyle. The village gained global attention thanks to King Charles III, who owns a restored house here and actively supports its preservation. Viscri offers a glimpse into authentic rural life, blending history, culture, and sustainability in a peaceful, pastoral setting.

Last month my friend and I took a private tour, and we had a wonderful experience. Our guide was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to share more about Romania as we traveled between sites. The extra information he provided along the way made the journey even more engaging and helped us better appreciate the country’s rich history and culture. The destinations themselves were absolutely beautiful, each offering something unique and memorable. This is a great tour if you have limited time in Romania. As I have heard a lot about Sighisoara and Sibiu I felt like I had to see both places and I highly recommend the tour if this is the case. It would be more relaxing only seeing one if you don’t need to see both.

Great experience! The guide is very personable. Enjoyed watching several videos about Romania and its history. Each stop was enjoyable. Good mix of time with the guide and on your own. Highly recommend.

Great way to see the countryside and smaller villages. Our tour guide, Valintin, was very flexible and adapted to our interests. Since we were staying in Sibiu, he changed the itinerary to include another small village instead. That village ended up being one of the highlights of our tour. During the drive he gave us additional information about the history of Romania and other information about life in Romania. It was a great day filled with beautiful country scenery, small villages as well as the beautiful town of sighisoara. This was one of the best tours and tour guides during our 1 week stay in Romania.
If you want to see three beautiful cities, this tour is for you!

This is a very informative tour. All 3 places are worth seeing, very beautiful and full of History. Our driver/ private tour guide Ionuț was very informative, he knew the history of Romania. He was very patient with us and provided us with great recommendation for places to see and good restaurants. We loved the Germanic architecture of Sibiu's old town and the legacy of 12th-century Saxon settlers and it was very cool to see the remains of medieval walls and towers and Evangelical Cathedral that has gravestones in its walls. We enjoyed seeing Sighișoara, the city is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is also the birthplace of Vlad Draculea, also known as Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler). Viscri has so much history, the Evanghelic Fortified Church also called the Romanic Hall-Chruch, dating back to the 13th century. The blue house in Viscri was bought by King Charles III and it's open to the public. Overall this tour is worth it!

We enjoyed our travel to a variety of towns around Brasov. It was a very long day however. In hindsight I would skip the last town of Sibui. We liked it but it wasn't that different from Brasov. Although we were staying in Brasov we never had time to explore it. Valentin was a great guide. The videos I the car were outstanding and very informative. They also made the 10 hr. trip go a little faster. I would give it a 10/10!

Lucky to come across a guide of Valentin's cultural stature. This made the day unforgettable and much more interesting and profitable. Person with a decidedly unusual background who has often adapted and expanded the conversation in relation to the numerous questions we asked him about Romanian history and culture, even if not relevant to the visit itself. Just a perfect day.

Valentin showed us a great day. It was just my husband and I. Each city was unique in it's own way. The day was long but the countryside was beautiful and we passed through picturesque towns and shared the road with a few horse-drawn wagons. He was very interesting and spoke great English (he formerly worked on cruise ships). Later in the afternoon, during the drive between cities he showed us videos about the history of Romania (one was intentionally comical) and the last communist dictator Ceausescu.
