Spend the day in the lovely landscapes of Central Europe’s largest freshwater lake on a full-day tour of Lake Balaton.

Depart from Budapest and travel by air-conditioned bus to the beautiful town of Balatonfüred. Located on the north coast of Lake Balaton, the town is famously referred to as the capital city of the lake.

You can experience an overview of city first by taking a short trip by “nostalgia train” around the area as well as a 1-hour cruise on Lake Balaton.

Afterwards, you will have some free time to take a stroll along the picturesque promenade and enjoy some lunch (not included).

Later on, drive to the “Tihany Peninsula” to see why it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area is rich with architecture and vineyards that produce excellent quality wine. Get a unique view of Lake Balaton from the hilltop before going to the Abbey of Tihany, founded in 1055.

Transfer back to Budapest by air-conditioned bus, the tour ends at Hotel Intercontinental Budapest.

Lake Balaton

Let’s visit Lake Balaton, the largest freshwater lake in Central Europe, the Hungarian Sea. First we visit Balatonfüred, the most important traditional bathing resort, on the north shore. We invite you for a short city sightseeing with a „nostalgia train”. Ramble along the tree-lined avenues and enjoy the ambiance of the 18-19th century villas. Walking along the yachting marina, you will enjoy the view of Tihany Peninsula. Embark on a 1 hour relaxing cruise on the lake. Have lunch (optional) in the centre of Balatonfüred. On the way to Tihany take a dip in the refreshing lake. We drive to Tihany Peninsula, to the magnificent nature reserve of Lake Balaton. Admire the most amazing view of the lake from the Abbey Hill in Tihany village. Discover the inner lake and lavender fields. Return to Budapest. The tour ends in the city centre.

SKAL OPLEVES Seriously so beautiful down by the water. If you like fantastic nature, visit the lake! However, you have to pay to get to the beach - that's what it is!

The overall experience was fantastic. I will say though that the cruise on the lake was a bit disappointing. There was no commentary so we didn’t know what we were looking at. Once we got to Tihany, the Lavender town it became obvious what we saw. The tour leader was very informative and patient.

Easy meeting point, comfortable mini coach, not too long a drive, lovely commentary, beautiful location. Remember your coins for the toilet stops. Well organised. Nice boat trip, not a lot to see from the boat as the shore line is relatively flat but it was nice and relaxing. The visit to the church and lavender village was lovely too. No hard sale to buy anything. Just a really nice trip!

Although the weather is not so good, I enjoyed the tour very much. Lake balafon is beautiful even though on a rainy/ cloudy day. Our guide Christine is very caring.

Such a beautiful experience! Wonderful little city by the lake. Took a little train ride around the city. Had free time to eat/shop. Took a 1 hour boat ride on the lake followed by a short drive to a close by village know for lavender.

It was great, but you need to do a lot of hiking. No for people on 60s without shape like me. Beautiful experience
