Join us on this trip to Western Serbia and discover an area so rich in unforgettable viewpoints, interesting local customs, and food that will all have your senses go wild.
This tour goes beyond sightseeing. It's about experiencing Western Serbia through its landscapes, traditions, and way of life.
Unlike fast-paced itineraries that rush from one attraction to another, this journey is carefully designed to balance nature, culture, and comfort. You’ll travel through some of Serbia’s most scenic and least-touristy regions, spending time in places where daily life still follows the rhythm of the mountains, rivers, and seasons.
What makes this tour special is the diversity packed into just five days: royal history and wine culture, sacred gorges and hidden monasteries, panoramic railways and film villages, alpine resorts and wild canyons. Each day offers a different perspective and a different emotion.

Avala Tower
Our first stop is Avala Tower, rising above the forests just outside Belgrade. From the top, panoramic views stretch across the city, rivers, and distant plains, offering a perfect introduction to the landscapes that will unfold over the coming days. Avala has long been a place of symbolism and perspective, both literally and historically.
Topola
Continuing toward Topola and Oplenac, we step into the story of the Karađorđević dynasty, the royal family that played a crucial role in shaping modern Serbia. At the Church of St. George, you’ll visit the mausoleum of the Serbian royal family, famous for its breathtaking interior decorated with over 40 million pieces of mosaic glass. The artwork depicts scenes from Serbian medieval history, creating a visual narrative of faith, struggle, and identity.
Winery Aleksandrovic
For lunch, we head to Winery Aleksandrović, one of Serbia’s most renowned family-run wineries. Here, tradition meets modern winemaking, and the experience is as much about culture as it is about taste. Enjoy a guided wine tasting paired with a traditional Serbian lunch, featuring local ingredients and regional flavors. It’s a relaxed, social moment, the kind that defines travel memories.

Ovcar-Kablar Gorge
Often called the “Serbian Mount Athos,” this dramatic gorge carved by the West Morava River is home to a series of medieval monasteries tucked into forested slopes. The day allows ample time (4–5 hours) to truly experience the area. We take a scenic drive up to Mount Kablar viewpoint, where sweeping views reveal the river’s elegant meanders far below - a landscape that feels both powerful and meditative. Depending on group preference, we visit one or two of the gorge’s monasteries, each with its own story, architecture, and quiet atmosphere. These spiritual centers were once places of refuge, learning, and resistance, and they continue to play an important role in Serbian religious life.
Drina River House
There is also the option for a short boat ride on the West Morava River, offering a different perspective of the gorge from the water - calm, reflective, and surrounded by steep cliffs. After a late lunch in the gorge area, we continue westward. On the way, we stop at one of Serbia’s most iconic sights - the Drina River House near Perućac. Perched improbably on a rock in the middle of the river, this tiny house has become a symbol of human resilience and harmony with nature.

The morning begins with one of Serbia’s most beloved attractions - a ride on the Šargan Eight railway. This historic narrow-gauge train winds through tunnels, bridges, and forests in a figure-eight pattern, offering stunning views and a nostalgic journey through mountain landscapes. Originally built for practical purposes, today it stands as a symbol of engineering ingenuity and slow travel.
Kustendorf
Next, we visit Drvengrad (Wooden Town), a unique ethno-village built by famous film director Emir Kusturica. Designed as a living cultural space, Drvengrad blends traditional architecture with modern artistic spirit. It hosts the annual Kustendorf Film Festival, where filmmakers and artists from around the world gather in an intimate, creative atmosphere. Walking through its wooden streets feels like stepping into a film set - cozy, playful, and deeply atmospheric.
Tara National Park
After lunch in Drvengrad, we head into Tara National Park, one of Serbia’s most pristine natural reserves. Tara Mountain is largely untouched by mass tourism and is known for its dense forests, rare plant species, and rich wildlife - including one of the largest populations of wild animals in this part of Europe. A highlight is the visit to Banjska Stena viewpoint, where breathtaking views open over the Drina River Canyon. From this vantage point, the scale and beauty of Western Serbia truly reveal themselves - layers of green hills, deep blue water, and endless horizons.
