Be ready for a long day and walk! But it was absolutely worth it! I initially only planned for disneyland in Shanghai but I thought I wanted to experience walking on the Great wall, since Beijing is too far, I chose this day tour instead. Had an amazing time, Summer was our tour guide, she is very knowledgeable and she made sure we are comfortable, she also made sure we walk at our own pace as this is absolutely a long walk. The culture, history and architecture was stunning. The show at the end of the tour was incredible, Summer did pretty well explaining the show as it was in mandarin. Learned a few phrases in mandarin as well. Overall I love the experience, absolutely worth it!

We weren't prepared for the length of time this tour would be in transit. We were picked up at our downtown hotel at 6:50am, to take a car ride of about 45 minutes to the train station. We took the train at 8am, which was a 2h20m ride. Once arriving, it was a 30 minute taxi to the first stop of East Lake. East Lake was gorgeous to walk through. Lunch was from 12:15-1:30 (which was delicious) and our guide was on their phone the entire time, not engaging with us at all, which made for an awkward lunch. Then there was a 10 minute taxi ride to the part of the Great Wall that you see. Walked along the wall for approx 30 minutes then walked through old town for 10-15 minutes, and then a 45 minute indoor show (that was confusing as it was all in Mandarin and our guide wasn't explaining things as we went through as we saw other guides doing - he was mostly on his phone during the show), and we were then on our way back to get in a taxi for 30 minutes to get to the train station for a 3 hour train ride back to Shanghai, followed by a 50 minute taxi back to our hotel. So all in all, about 4 hours of actual tour (and 1.25 of that was lunch), and 9 hours of transportation time. For the high cost of this tour, I hadn't thought it would be as much transit time as it was and felt that wasn't explained in the outline. Our tour guide was also lack-lustre which didn't help, and while he provided information while on the tour, he didn't converse with us at all in the car or during lunch. Based on what we were hearing from others on the same tour with different guides, their experience with their guides were much different, so it may be dependent on who you get as your guide for that part of it.

Seemless pick and transfer to Bullet Train extremely well planned and supervised by the delightful and wonderful Emma our English speaking tour guide. East Garden is just Beautiful and the history and cultural significance to the area is well explained by Emma. The steps to the top are a challenge so be prepared. Emma will arrange mid teir drops offs if needed. Emma took us the the most magnificent lunch followed by a spectacular cultural perfomance by a local troup in beautiful costumes. If you want a real Then home in the very comfortable Bullet Train where drinks and snakcks are available. If you have a short time and want an authentic China experience this is the one. Emma made our day perfect . Tip: Very hot in August be prepared.

We had a wonderful tour overall! Our guide, Summer, made sure we had a pleasant and memorable experience. The day was well-structured, giving us plenty of time to explore the ancient city of Taizhou, walk along the Great Wall, enjoy a delicious lunch, and experience vibrant folklore entertainment. We’re bringing home many great memories from this trip!
