• Very poor value for money

  Small group NAPPER, Art Deco & Wineries. 04/02/2026 Very disappointed by this excursion. The instructions to meet the receiver were to take the first shuttle from the port to NAPIER and get off at the last stop, the aquarium. Here a BRIGHT ORANGE panel was to form the gathering point. The start of the tour is announced 30 minutes after the arrival of the first shuttle. In reality, after a good dose of stress, we are aboard the third shuttle and at the aquarium around 2:45 pm. Surprise, no orange sign, no receptive, but a dozen customers with the same instructions as us. The voucher does not mention the name or telephone number of the local supplier, which is the first major shortfall. After about 40 minutes, an anonymous vehicle arrives at the aquarium parking lot and the person who comes down introduces himself as part of the supplier’s team. She has a list of clients, but not the title of the excursion corresponding to each. Another vehicle is coming. The result is an imbroglio as to who goes on which bus, another good fifteen to twenty minutes wasted. Our driver SUNNY, serves us an excuse that in our experience does not hold. He blames Viator, which in his opinion does not convey the information to customers. Namely that the meeting place has been changed for 3 months because they are no longer allowed to use the aquarium parking. He claims he waited for us at the port. To purchase multiple excursions with Viator, it is usually the excursion provider who communicates the changes to customers, not Viator. This supplier is neither serious nor reliable. The tour schedule was not respected, too much time wasted waiting and finding participants. Our excursion was limited to tasting in 2 vineyards, the Mission and 350. The neighborhood of Ahuriri not seen, so no stop. As for the Art Deco buildings, we saw them on board the bus, without getting off. The driver guide SONNY, has an English accent half Pakistani, half New Zealand, makes no effort towards an English more accessible to all, especially non-English speakers. He told us about his life, his immigration, the persecution of Sikhs, without interest for tourists visiting New Zealand. The goods have not been delivered, so I request a refund for this excursion for the 4 passengers of the reservation. I kindly advise you to change supplier for the destination NAPIER. Monique

• A fun and enjoyable tour around Napier

  An excellent tour with an entertaining and knowledgeable host. Napier is beautiful with quirky Art Deco buildings. The two wineries visited offered a delightful selection of sample wines. As a consideration for future guests I would suggest a 30 min stop is built in to allow for a bite to eat.

• Great Insight Into Napier's History and Good Beer Sampling

  Great Tour to lovely winery. Really enjoyed the flight of beers at brewery. Kirsty was a very knowledgeable guide and we learnt a lot about Napier's earthquake and the rebuilding in the Art Deco style. Would recommend.

• Not a great tour company

  They left without us, said they waited 40mins which is a total lie, they didn’t contact us, we tried to contact them but they wouldn’t answer. Appalling for a tour company I would use someone one else or be disappointed. Getting off the ship can be time consuming and the tour apparently leaves 30 minutes after the first person gets off the ship which is not quite fair when you haven’t got priority disembarkation it will take longer especially when the arrival time is 2pm everyone is ready to get off, again be aware you may not go on your trip if you booked through this company.

  Sunny took us on this tour and was very accommodating. We arrive there by cruise ship. This is a very good way to see the area and to do some of the wineries. Much better price than what the wanted to charge.

  Guide was late (due to traffic issue) and not particularly engaging or forthcoming with local information. Was basically a driver between two wineries. The hosts at the wineries were informative and wines were good. No food was served (could be purchased at second stop) so be prepared to drink over lunchtime. Eat a hearty breakfast before. Feel like drive through Napier and environs could have been more informative.

  I think this might have been the most disorganized tour I have ever been on. The owner/organizers told guests to gather in three different places. Every communication - Viatour description, text, email - was a different place. It took them more than an hour to round everybody up. Then the tour guides weren’t even told where to take us. One boss told our guide one thing, then another boss told her to do something totally different. Staffing at one winery was inadequate and not even any crackers for 12 glasses of wine on a four hour tour. Oh, and the tour became an awful six hours because they were so disorganized. The tour guide was good but she took us all the way up to a viewing point only to find the road closed with no access. A real waste of our time. We can not recommend this tour or this vendor.

  Good selection of small wineries visited. Jennifer, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and personable. Had a quick stop at food store for chocolate bars!

• Poorly organized and run tour. I’d look elsewhere for tours to Hawke’s Bay

  It was an absolute disaster locating the tour when we got off the cruise ship. We were sent multiple contradicting instructions from the company. The tour also started an hour late due to the company arriving late to the meet up point. There were 8 other passengers waiting for the trip. We missed the entire first stop of the tour as well as the stop at the lookout point. Also, the van smelled terrible and the driver had no idea where he was going throughout the tour. The a/c in the van was not working well. The tour guide had to actively instruct the driver not to hit things and reassure us that we were safe. The microphone was not working. Tour company also refused any reimbursement/refund.
