Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress

Sigiriya Rock Fortress, located in central Sri Lanka, is an ancient royal citadel built in the 5th century by King Kashyapa. Rising 200 meters above the surrounding plains, the rock features stunning frescoes, the famous Mirror Wall, and impressive lion-paw entrance steps leading to the summit. At the top are the ruins of the king’s palace, offering panoramic views of the lush landscape. Often called the "Eighth Wonder of the World," Sigiriya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a remarkable example of ancient urban planning, art, and engineering.

Dambulla Cave Temple

The Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, is Sri Lanka’s largest and best-preserved cave temple complex. Dating back to the 1st century BCE, it consists of five main caves carved into a massive rock, filled with over 150 stunning Buddha statues, intricate murals, and religious paintings. The walls and ceilings are richly decorated with centuries-old Buddhist art. Located on a hilltop, the temple also offers scenic views of the surrounding countryside. We stayed at RIU and used Tony’s Tours for 3 trips and every single one of them delivered beyond expectation and has given us all the most fantastic memories to treasure. We did: 1. Pinnawala, Kandy & Temple of the Tooth 2. Galle, Sea Turtles & Stilt Fishing 3. Sigiriya & Dambulla Roshan was our guide and he was so friendly and helpful and when my husband mentioned in passing he wanted to try the King Coconuts he made sure we built a stop in to accommodate this which was so thoughtful. All the tours were private and via air conditioned car and all tickets were sorted for us so all we had to worry about was enjoying the day the team at Tony’s had put together for us. Everything was arranged via Messenger and worked like clockwork with payment on the day giving confidence and trust. I would completely recommend if you need a tour guide and we certainly plan on coming back next year and doing some more amazing tours via Tony.

Easy to book online. Correct price agreements and picked up promptly at the hotel. Friendly and knowledgeable guide. Very helpful in the numerous stairs on the Sigiriya site. Payment could only be cash.
