Float between two tectonic plates, between the continents, in the clearest water in the world (100m+ visibility) while admiring the mesmerizing colors of this underwater world.
You don’t need to be a certified diver in order to experience water at its clearest! Snorkeling at Silfra is suitable for anyone who feels comfortable in water and knows how to swim. This family-friendly activity is suitable for children from 12 years old.
The snorkeling tour of Silfra is done in a dry suit, helping you to stay warm and dry inside the suit while swimming in the cold, crystal clear water.
Silfra is located in Thingvellir National Park which is a Unesco heritage site. The beautiful park is one of the wonders on the famous Golden circle route.

All participants will need to fill out a medical form before participating in the tour. The form can be filled out online
All participant's height, weight and age information must be provided to local operator to ensure they bring the best fitting drysuit. The tour operator will contact you after booking to ask for this information.
IMPORTANT - Participants over 60 years of age must have their doctor sign the approval form in order to participate
Drysuits are worn over your own clothing. We recommend wearing long thermal underwear and thick wool socks as a base layer under the dry suit
Minimum height is 4ft 11in (150cm). Minimum weight is 100lbs (45kg).
Maximum height and weight is 6ft7in (200cm) and 264lbs (120kg).
Participants must be comfortable in water and able to swim, physically fit and healthy
Please note that that dry suits can sometimes feel quite tight and constricting
All participants must be able to communicate in English
Not suitable for pregnant women
All participants must be at least 12 years old

5.00Snorkiling at Silfra was a hoot! I'm an "older" woman and I had fun. Putting on the layers of the dry suit, head piece and mittens was a challenge but the staff are there to help - you'll need it! A short walk (or waddle) to the swim site then another safety brief before and as you enter the rather chilly water. Don't let that deter you, you'll be warm or at least comfortable enough. What you see is incredible.....and the colour! I am confident swimmer but I don't normally snorkel but I felt relaxed and confident. My guide, the lovely Nikolas was great. He watched us carefully to ensure our safety and to ensure us a great experience. Thanks Nick!

5.0010/10 experience! We needed to reschedule at the last minute and surprisingly had no problems doing so and with adding a corresponding transfer to Reykjavík as well. We were a bit nervous before the tour but the tour was small (5 people) and our tour guide, Gabe, really helped us all feel comfortable throughout the experience. Gabe helped us put on each part of our equipment and made sure we were comfortable before moving on to the next part, learned our names, and cracked jokes along the way. His overall calm demeanor helped us ease our nerves throughout the experience as well- we couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. The heated changing van and hot chocolate and cookies were phenomenal as well. Amazing experience that I would recommend to anyone not afraid to get a little cold:)
