Float between two tectonic plates, between the continents, in the clearest water in the world (100m+ visibility) while admiring the mesmerizing colors of this underwater world.
You don’t need to be a certified diver in order to experience water at its clearest! Snorkeling at Silfra is suitable for anyone who feels comfortable in water and knows how to swim. This family-friendly activity is suitable for children from 12 years old.
The snorkeling tour of Silfra is done in a dry suit, helping you to stay warm and dry inside the suit while swimming in the cold, crystal clear water.
Silfra is located in Thingvellir National Park which is a Unesco heritage site. The beautiful park is one of the wonders on the famous Golden circle route.

IMPORTANT - Participants who are 60 years of age and older must have their doctor sign the approval form in order to participate
All participant's height, weight and age information must be provided to local operator to ensure they bring the best fitting drysuit. The tour operator will contact you after booking to ask for this information.
All participants will need to fill out a medical form before participating in the tour. The form can be filled out online
Drysuits are worn over your own clothing. We recommend wearing long thermal underwear and thick wool socks as a base layer under the dry suit
Minimum height is 4ft 11in (150cm). Minimum weight is 100lbs (45kg).
Maximum height and weight is 6ft7in (200cm) and 264lbs (120kg).
Participants must be comfortable in water and able to swim, physically fit and healthy
Please note that that dry suits can sometimes feel quite tight and constricting
All participants must be able to communicate in English
Not suitable for pregnant women
All participants must be at least 12 years old

Upon arrival 15 minutes before the start time, you will check in with the guides at the meeting point at Silfra. Once your group of max 6 people has been formed, your guide will give you your drysuit, warm undersuit and snorkeling equipment. Your guide will explain how to use this equipment and how to ensure that you will be warm and comfortable during your tour. You can change in our heated Changing Van and the guide will help you with putting all the gear on. We recommend wearing long underwear and thick socks. Your guide will brief you on Silfra and safety as well as information about Thingvellir national park, the tectonic plates and the continents. The briefing and gearing up takes approx 1 hour. You will walk 5 minutes to Silfra and start your 30 - 45 minute snorkeling tour of Silfra Hall, Silfra Cathedral, and Silfra Lagoon. After snorkeling in the cold water, we warm you up with hot cocoa and cookies. This is your chance to chat with your guide, ask any questions you might have and take a look at the pics taken during the tour. 5.00Our guide Leo helped us gear up for this one-of-a-kind experience. It was super cold but we were warm in our wet suits. The views and pictures he took were out of this world. One of the most special things we did in Iceland. For families with children or people with limited mobility, the suits were very uncomfortable and tough to put on. For us, it was worth it!
This is a must do! Not as cold as you think!

5.00We had Boris as our guide, he was brilliant. Very friendly & guided us perfectly. Loved our experience !! Even tho The weather wasn’t on our side with the wind, he made us feel very safe & overall we had the best experience! Plus the hot chocolate provided after was the best me & my partner have had! 100% recommend!!

5.00Hella cold in March, but so worth it. You wear a dry suit, not a wet suit so be sure to wear a solid thermal layer and double socks. The coldest part is getting out, but the view is unbeatable. We had Jana as a guide and the other group had James. They were terrific and did a great job of explaining the process to a bunch of people who had never done it.
