Snorkeling in a wetsuit in Iceland is something that may sound crazy but it can be one of the most rewarding things you can ever do. Hearing what our guides know and what our customers say after the tour is the reason we offer the wetsuit to you.
We are the only company that offer a wetsuit and a drysuit. This allows multiple people in your group to decide what is truly the right fit for them to tailor make your day.
Most people who choose the wetsuit do so because they want to be able to dive down. Therefore because of this this option is popular with scuba divers who do not have the required certifications for the drysuit scuba dive.
When underwater a serene silence washes over you that can only be experienced by being under the water in a wetsuit. It is something that makes this quite possibly the best way to view the waters of Silfra, consistently over 100 metre in visibility.
If you're not a particularly confident swimmer then the drysuit snorkel is an easier option for you.

Bring a swimsuit and towel.
Minimum age is 12 years, please reach out regarding younger participants & Participants over the age of 65 need to get a physicians approval
Be at minimum 150cm (4’9) tall / maximum 200cm (6’7) tall, and be at minimum 50kg (99 lbs) / maximum 120kg (264 lbs)
Don't wear glasses, instead bring contact lenses or your own prescription mask (if you have one)
Recommended to bring a change of clothes (the drysuit has a very small chance of leaking)
Please dress according to weather - no heals or jeans
All participants heights, weights and age must be provided to local operator. If you do not provide at time of booking, please contact supplier immediately after booking to provide this information
Note: Each guide can assist one group of up to six participants at a time. Up to three different groups can be present during this activity.
We recommend wearing long thermal underwear and thick wool socks a a base layer under the drysuit
All participants will need to fill out a medical form before participating in the tour. Please find a link to the medical statement on your ticket voucher right after booking the experience to be sure if you qualify.

After parking your car in P5 you will meet you where all the snorkel/ dive vans are. Once you have greeted your guide he or she will run through how the day will go and what to expect from the tour. Once you're wearing all of our snorkel gear you will listen in to a safety briefing prior to entering Siflra. Silfra is known for it's visibility exceeding 100 metres. The reason for this is because 50km away there is a glacier that melts at different times of the year and this melt water makes a journey underground until it reaches a big 'crack' in the ground. This meltwater fills this 'crack' or 'canyon' meaning we can go snorkeling there to experience it. After spending 30-40 minutes in the water you'll finish the tour by warming up with a well earned hot chocolate. Your guide will take photos of you throughout and does not charge extra commission. Normally included are 40-100 photos, this varies on group size and the comfort level of the group. They are downloadable after a few days. With the wetsuit option all you need to wear your bathing suit underneath. Our guides highly recommended that you bring thick socks as this will help to keep your feet warm while snorkeling!

I was nervous getting ready because the equipment can be tight and uncomfortable, but as soon as I was in the water that all went away! Thank you to Kaya for all your help!

5.00We had an incredible snorkeling experience at Silfra, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide, Ines. From the very beginning, her attention to detail stood out. She took the time to ensure that every piece of equipment fit properly and explained everything clearly, which immediately put our group at ease. You could tell she was not just going through the motions—she was truly focused on making sure each person felt prepared and confident before getting into the water. What I appreciated most was how attentive she was to everyone’s comfort level. Snorkeling in glacial water can be a bit intimidating, but Ines checked in frequently, adjusted her pace to match the group, and created a calm, supportive environment. Whether someone was a first-timer or more experienced, she made sure everyone felt safe and able to enjoy the experience fully. Once in the water, she continued to guide us thoughtfully, pointing out features of the rift and making sure we stayed together while still giving us space to take in how surreal and beautiful Silfra is. Overall, this was a truly memorable experience, and Ines’ professionalism, care, and attention to detail made all the difference. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone considering snorkeling in Silfra.

5.00It was an amazing experience. Our guide Kaja was great and the snorkeling in the pristine clean and icy cold waters of Silfra was unforgettable. It was not just the snorkelling itself it was the whole experience of being able to whitstand the elements. We were really lucky to pick a very nice December day that was not too cold and had no wind either. Having the experience with ice cold water swimming before I knew the feeling of extreme happiness aferwards. It just makes you laugh.

5.00Such a cool thing to do, of course it was cold but I definitely think it was worth doing the wetsuit instead of drysuit. I could go under the water and do a little bit of free diving, it was hard staying under the water though, I was quite buoyant. It was quite hard to put the wetsuit on though but that’s all part of the adventure. Silfra in its self was very beautiful!

5.00Unique experience in a beautiful national park. A great tour company and Dory was an amazing guide! Even though it was a daunting experience, she was kind, helpful, and accommodating. She made my grandpa feel comfortable and it was a great experience for all of us. And the hot chocolate was a sweet treat as well. The water was so cold but it was worth it. Would highly recommend this adventure and this group.
