Explore the peaceful countryside of Phnom Penh by bicycle where you’ll encounter experience with the real life of local people, mango plantations, lemongrass farms, Khmer sedge mat weaving village and silk weaving workshop of the Mekong River. This moderate biking adventure is for those who love cycling and able to manage from 25km to 30km distance through the flat terrains of the Mekong Island.

After we cycle through the countryside, farmland and paddy rice field plus the natural lake that included the lotus farm, we continue to the handicraft village where you’ll learn more about Khmer silk weaving and enjoy the local lunch with them. A final we have a short ride to the ferry and get on our supported vehicle back to your hotel. This leisurely discover of Phnom Penh countryside, offering the chance of real-life local experience in Cambodia.

Cambodia Post Office

We start to pick up at 7:30am from your mentioned accommodation in Phnom Penh by Tuk Tuk or minivan as depending on the group size. After we pick you up, our crew will drive to the meeting point at the Cambodia Post Office or direct to the ferry across the Mekong River. The Post Office, built by French town planner and architecture Daniel Fabre around 1895, is located in the former European or French district. This administrative building gave its name to square where it is located. ”Place de la Post ”.

After we crossing the ferry and landing on the island of Mekong, we saddle up bicycle and our guide will make a brief of cycling itinerary with what we expect to learn from this cycling tour. There are few islands that located on the upstream of Mekong River as the best way to explore villages life, fruit & vegetable orchard such as cucumber, corn, ginger, lemongrass, papaya, eggplants, and other plantation like banana and mango etc. Throughout this cycling journey, we also visit the silk weaving workshop as the traditional weaving for most of the villages located through the Mekong River.

Very nice day out of town riding around 2 islands visiting monesteries, silk farm and a great lunch on a floating restaurant. Thong speaks English well and has e-bikes if needed.

I had a great day out and Sam is a brilliant guide, very welcoming and friendly. The lunch is delicious at a beautiful spot by the river where you can laze in a hammock after the bike ride!

I had a wonderful morning with Mon cycling around Silk and Mekong islands. He provided a lot of information about the local plants and people. The tour of the silk making facility was very interesting and there was no pressure at all to buy the products. Ended with a nice lunch overlooking the river. Mon was so kind and kept the biking at a nice pace but not too fast. Felt very safe at all times. Highly recommended if you have some basic biking skills.

Sam is a fantastic guide! Such a funny, friendly, knowledgeable person who was passionate about what he does! We really got a feel of the local Cambodian life! Our tour guide Sam was an absolute top fella, with a huge amount of knowledge at every step along the tour. His English was great which was very helpful as our Cambodian is non existent. 10/10 would recommend Sam to anyone.

Overall very good half day spent in rural side of Phnom Penh. The guide who companied us took well care of us, ensuring safe cycle, with ample spots in between to relax and to learn about the village life & customs.

The trip was well organized from start to finish. We’ve been on several tours in Cambodia, and Sam was truly one of the best guides we’ve had. His upbeat energy and Cambodian jokes were a highlight! Sam was an excellent guide. Easy pick up from hotel and journey to the start of our biking adventure. Excellent e-bikes and helmets with seats already adjusted to our heights which was much appreciated. Fabulous tour around the two islands which gave us a real feel for local Cambodian life. And finished off with a delicious lunch in a local restaurant on the river. For me it has been the highlight of my Phnom Penh stay. Thanks Sam!!!
