Chinatown
The experience starts off with an exploration of Chinatown where you will get to soak in the sights of the Chinatown neighbourhood. Stories will be shared of it's history capturing the struggles of early Chinese immigrants, their trials and tribulations of making ends meet in a rough neighbourhood filled with vices like opium, gambling, prostitution, and death. These buildings still stand today. Old images will be shown where you will see the quick transformation of Singapore's development from the past to the present day. We will also be visiting a hawker centre and get to sample locally popular Singapore Chinese street food cuisines, and at the same time experience the local way of life that has been around for the past decades.
Little India
In Little India, you will be brought around the area where the vibrancy of colour from street stalls selling fresh fruit & vegetables, flower garland markets, traditional clothing stores, and incense shops will charm your senses. It is due to these trades and other opportunities that had inspired the early Indian community to move from the original Little India near the old seafront, up here where water buffalos used to roam the swampy area. We will be visiting a hawker market here and get to sample a variety of Pakistani, North Indian & Indian Muslim street food cuisines, and experience the exciting vibrancy of the Indian community having their daily meals here.

Don’t eat breakfast beforehand! There is a lot of food along the way. Getting around is a combination of walking and public transport so not punishing. Gerry is a fabulous guide and is flexible if someone has a particular interest. Gerry also is keen to hear about each person on the tour and their interests. You get a good grounding in the history, culture and food of each district. It’s a small group (we were 7) so it’s very personal and a good chance to meet new people. We had a good group with plenty of laughter. Importantly Gerry’s pre tour communication and organisation were excellent. So reassuring when that happens. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour.

Gerry is outstanding. First, know that you are going to eat. And what he picks his outstanding. Second, you're gonna learn some fabulous history about the areas he takes you to. Third, although the tour is long, it really isn't physically taxing. We walked roughly 2 1/2 miles. Lastly, there's a reason why this guy scores are so good on the website. He's outstanding. A lot of energy, a lot of knowledge and a wonderful personality.

This is our second time taking a food tour with Jerry. The first time, five years ago, was such an amazing experience that we knew that if we came back to Singapore, we would meet up with him again. We are so glad we did. The challenge of taking a walking food tour in Singapore is so often the tour includes just two or three of the hooker stands. These are basically food stall malls, which can have dozens to hundreds of food stalls in there. We did go to some of these, but Jerry also included a tour of the Singapore’s rich culture and history. We learned things that we never knew and are so glad we found out. You absolutely cannot go wrong booking your food tour in Singapore with Jerry. You cannot go wrong booking Jerry.

I have done this trip with Gerry before around 3 years ago and enjoyed it so much I had to come back! Gerry delivers a perfect mix of culinary delights (Chinese, Indian and Malay) and historical insights - all delivered in a relaxed and fun style. One tip - do not have any breakfast prior to the tour!

Gerry was an amazing tour guide. He was entertaining and upbeat while delivering information about Singapore’s food, history, and current issues. And there is so much delicious food. If you are a foodie and only have time to do one tour in Singapore, do this one!

I highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in the culture, history, and food of Singapore. Gerry is immensely knowledgeable and passionate about the people and cultures that make up Singapore. You will walk through the heritage neighborhoods and get a feel of the city, including how to use the MRT and bus system. I returned to some of the same neighborhoods the next day and was able to get around like a pro! Gerry met me at my hotel. Communication before the tour was excellent (make sure you have WhatsApp). Gerry accounted for food allergies and preferences. You will eat so much good food, and lots of it! I cannot recommend this tour enough

Gerry took us on an extensive tour of the Chinatown Little India and The Arab neighborhood. He has an excellent knowledge of the entire area and the history of Singapore and is very entertaining. Besides eating tons of interesting and tasty food and we also visited some iconic sites such as the local Buddhist temple and the Sultan mosque. We had a great time.
