Chinatown
The experience starts off with an exploration of Chinatown where you will get to soak in the sights of the Chinatown neighbourhood. Stories will be shared of it's history capturing the struggles of early Chinese immigrants, their trials and tribulations of making ends meet in a rough neighbourhood filled with vices like opium, gambling, prostitution, and death. These buildings still stand today. Old images will be shown where you will see the quick transformation of Singapore's development from the past to the present day. We will also be visiting a hawker centre and get to sample locally popular Singapore Chinese street food cuisines, and at the same time experience the local way of life that has been around for the past decades.
Little India
In Little India, you will be brought around the area where the vibrancy of colour from street stalls selling fresh fruit & vegetables, flower garland markets, traditional clothing stores, and incense shops will charm your senses. It is due to these trades and other opportunities that had inspired the early Indian community to move from the original Little India near the old seafront, up here where water buffalos used to roam the swampy area. We will be visiting a hawker market here and get to sample a variety of Pakistani, North Indian & Indian Muslim street food cuisines, and experience the exciting vibrancy of the Indian community having their daily meals here.

This is one of the best activities I have ever done! It was such a small group and the tour was so comprehensive, with a great variety of food and neighborhoods - discussing culture, food, and the history of the country! Gerry was phenomenal, and I would recommend him and this food tour to anyone who is going to Singapore!

We have traveled extensively throughout the world and have signed on to several city food and cultural tours in our travels, but today’s tour stood out as an outstanding experience in all respects. OMG the amount and diversity of top notch hawker food offerings was truly amazing! And these were the same food stalls that sent Anthony Bourdain, Gordon Ramsay and even the Michelin Guide into rapturous reviews. And with our guide Gerry, a lifelong Singapore resident, the whole city and food/culture came alive, punctuated by a broad assortment of readily accessed photos on his iPad that would make any documentarian envious. I most highly recommend this tour!

So happy I booked this tour! The food was very tasty itself and what made it taste even better was knowing we’re supporting local businesses. Gerry also gave us a brief history background of the places we visited. It was super fun, tasty, and informative! 😋 10/10 highly recommend! If you’re on the fence or not sure, book it. You won’t regret it 👍🏻

We had a lovely day exploring China town, Little India, and the historic Muslim section of Singapore. We got to sample local foods brouse the shops, and experience Singapore 's diverse beginnings. We walked, rode on the MRT, and bus. Gerry was an excellent guide and wonderful ambassador to this lovely city and we made new friends of fellow travers from Sydney, Australia. We will savor our memories of this special day.

This was one of the best food tours we have ever been on. Gerry combined food with culture and did a great job explaining Chinese, Indian, and Arabic culture along with more food than the 5 guests could possibly eat. He is very personable and open to any questions. Highly recommend this tour!

Gerry was a fantastic guide! We spent close to 6 hours exploring Little India, Chinatown and the Arab Quarter. The food was plentiful and super tasty. It was a very good showcase of Singapore's unique neighborhoods. Gerry shared a lot of history and personal insights and was a lot of fun to spend half a day with. Highly recommend doing this tour on your first day - it's a great introduction to the city!
