Your first stop is a store specializing in bakkwa, jerky-like meat, slow grilled over charcoal with the same secret recipe handed down from generations ago. Savor the honey sweet, appetizing bakkwa or get a pack as a take-away souvenir. Stroll around a little more past the various small stalls that sell a plethora of tropical fruit, including the king of fruits, Durian, as well as fresh seafood and daily goods.
Continue onwards to a hawker center and explore the myriad of food stalls before tasting either “carrot cake” or Char Keow Teow. Warm up your appetite with this popular side dish that uses the simplest ingredients. Your main course of the day is at the first street-level Michelin stall.

We had a really enjoyable time. We did the morning session and there was plenty of food, interesting facts, and great company. Our guide Lin was really friendly, she took us to some great food spots and gave us an interesting lesson about Chinatown! We even re-visited some of the food spots ourselves later in our trip.

I had a great tour, and Kim was a great guide. The three hour trip flew by, with Kim giving nice background on the city and her local perspectives. There was plenty of food and a nice variety.

We had a full three hours of tasting 13 of Chinatown's classic and favorite foods. Sam Pang was our guide and he was full of knowledge and humor along the way.

As I planned my trip to Singapore, a consistent theme was how excellent the food is. I decided to take this tour to experience foods I might not try on my own - and get a little tour along the way. So glad I did! I had purposely chosen a group tour because I didn't want to have to be constantly "on" for the tour. Ironically, I was the only one there for this small group tour. But my amazing tour guide, Lin, made this such a wonderful experience... like spending a few hours with a new friend. The tour started with kaya toast and coffee (tea for me, since I'm not a coffee drinker). I won't detail each stop, but throughout the tour, we had great, easy conversation, I learned about Singapore, and, of course, tasted interesting and delicious foods (including most that I probably would have never tried). Lin was always helpful - checking on my needs, making sure to answer any questions I had, and offering to take photos of me whenever I wanted. She even took me down to the MRT to (1) explain how to use it since I hadn't yet) and (2) use the map to tell me about the different areas of Singapore. I've been on several other walking food tours (mostly in Paris) and this one ranks highly. In comparison, this one included more food and maybe a little less tour guide (though that might have been because this was 1:1 for me).
