Your first stop is a store specializing in bakkwa, jerky-like meat, slow grilled over charcoal with the same secret recipe handed down from generations ago. Savor the honey sweet, appetizing bakkwa or get a pack as a take-away souvenir. Stroll around a little more past the various small stalls that sell a plethora of tropical fruit, including the king of fruits, Durian, as well as fresh seafood and daily goods.
Continue onwards to a hawker center and explore the myriad of food stalls before tasting either “carrot cake” or Char Keow Teow. Warm up your appetite with this popular side dish that uses the simplest ingredients. Your main course of the day is at the first street-level Michelin stall.

A great food tour in Chinatown in Singapore! Karol ( I hope I have spelt that that correctly!) was very informative not only on the different cuisines and their origins but also on the culture and history of Singapore. I was amazed at her knowledge and recollection and her ability to to answer any questions

Our guide Ann was amazing. So knowledgeable. Picked great places that the locals eat at. The only warning is it's a lot of delicous food. I was stuffed but it was so good I couldn't stop eating LOL

This was a brilliant tour and a great thing to do at the start of your stay. Our guide gave us so much information about the culture of Singapore and pointed out things we would never have noticed on our own. We visited a number of different market stalls and cafes and she kept us constantly entertained with little stories of her life in Singapore. I highly recommend this tour, it was lots of fun and so very interesting.

I thought the food tour was great. Grace who took the tour was really knowledgeable, friendly and funny. It was a great little insight into Singapore culture. There was more than enough food and a good variety as well.

Excellent small group tour. Hui Kheng was passionate about her local food and eateries, we tried a broad range of local cuisine. Do the tour early in your visit and then you’ll have the confidence to eat at the hawker stalls.

This is one of the best food tours that we have done around the world. Kim was very engaging, knowledgeable and took time to share historical anecdotes and food preparation insights. The tour was centred in Chinatown for approximately three hours. Fifteen dishes and local beverages were sampled from five to six venues in the area, as well as within two Hawker centres. Kim's selection of food was wide and varied, featuring regional specialities and delicacies that we would not have otherwise been tempted to try. The Hawker Chan Michelin Star chicken and chicken rice dish was a highlight, along with curry spring rolls, sugar cane juice, oyster cake and pandam cake. Exceptional value foodie tour. A must-do if you are interested in local Singaporean food.

Grayson was an outstanding tour guide! From the very first stop he was informative, kind, and tailored the experience to our preferences. You could tell he knew his way around the markets and the vendors. He explained each dish we tasted, giving us the ingredients and demonstrating not only how they were prepared but the history and the way each dish fit into the culture. We learned a lot about the history of Singapore beyond their food. My wife and I do food tours wherever we go in the world. We highly recommend Grayson and this particular food tour. It was our first time in Singapore and Grayson made it most memorable.
