This Mixed-Group tour brings you to the ethnic neighbourhoods of Chinatown, Little India & Kampong Gelam. You will learn about the history, people, culture & heritage, which are what make Singapore uniquely diverse.
You will experience the everyday lives of the locals not only through sight and sound, but also through your taste buds. We will visit 2 UNESCO inscribed hawker centres (at Chinatown & Little India) and sample authentic local cuisines and drink, some of which have been passed down from generations and are fast diminishing due to the lack of family successors continuing with the trade.
To experience the local experience even further, we will also be taking public transportation between the different ethnic quarters, which are efficient, convenient and comfortable.
This tour will help you understand how the locals live their lives, which reflects Singapore's unique multi-racial and cultural lifestyle, and at the same time fill your stomachs with really amazing food and drink.

Chinatown
Your tour is a fun and educational discovery of 3 ethnic neighbourhoods: Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam. You will learn more about its history and experience local living, through walking in the area as well as sampling local street food at UNESCO inscribed hawker centres at Chinatown and Little India, and dessert in the Malay Quarter of Kampong Glam. In Chinatown, you will learn more about the lives of early Chinese immigrants who flocked here in large numbers due to the vibrant community and work opportunities. Businessmen, traders, craftsmen, hawkers and peddlers sought to make a living here. While some found success, many others found themselves succumbed to vices like opium, gambling and prostitution. Remnants of these memories can still be found along the streets of Chinatown and you will get the opportunity to relive the lives of the past in the present day.
Kampong Gelam
Your tour is a fun and educational discovery of 3 ethnic neighbourhoods: Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam with a street food experience at UNESCO inscribed hawker centres at Chinatown and Little India. In Kampong Glam, you will learn more about how this place came about and that Malay royalty used to govern Singapore, whose palace used to stand in the grounds. Be enthralled by the grand Sultan Mosque that still continues to attract Muslims from all over the island. It is an important focal point for religious, cultural and social activities. During the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, this area transforms into a popular night market with numerous food stalls as Muslims gather to await the prayer call to break their fast at sunset. You will get to sample locally known desserts by an independently run store in the area while soaking in the old and colourful wall murals that adorn all along the walls of shophouses.

5.00We only had 2 days in Singapore; today we did a 5hr Foodie and Cultural tour with Gerry which was an excellent complement to yesterday’s 8hr driving tour. Gerry did an outstanding job sharing Singapore’s history, culture, and especially its culinary delights. He did a very good job maintaining a balance of eating, walking and getting us around Singapore. We had the perfect group size, and we all enjoyed Gerry’s knowledge and company. I would give him more than 5 stars if that was an option.

5.00We did this tour in 2022 and it was so fun that we did it again this year with our adult son. Gerry, who remembered us from the first tour, is so easy-going and a wealth of information about Singapore culture, food and lifestyle. This is more than a food tour. He took us to parts of Singapore that we wouldn’t have seen on our own. We traveled by van, MRT and city bus to visit the three neighborhoods. Don’t eat breakfast because you will sample a lot of food! We visited a hawker center in Chinatown that was very authentic and sampled so many dishes that we couldn’t finish them all! The Indian restaurant was also very delicious. I think we were the only tourists inside. We definitely enjoyed touring the various neighborhoods and tasting a variety of dishes from a local’s perspective. Would highly recommend.

5.00Was recommended this tour by some Irish friends. We were collected from our hotel in the morning n were very well looked after for the day by Gerry. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Singapore . The different modes of transport, the street food experiences were just fantastic and of course Gerry s easy going, welcoming personality could not be out done. Well done Gerry n I will definitely recommend this tour.

5.00This tour was easily one of the highlights of my trip to Singapore. Gerry was punctual, warm, and instantly made everyone feel at ease — it felt more like spending the day with a friend than a guide. As a solo traveler, I really appreciated his organization and thoughtfulness; I never once felt out of place. Our group was such a fun mix of people, and we laughed, ate, and learned our way through the city. The food was absolutely incredible — we tried everything from local favorites to hidden gems, and the drinks just kept coming! Along the way, Gerry shared so much about Singapore’s rich history and cultural diversity, and it made every bite even more meaningful. You definitely won’t leave this tour hungry — the pacing was perfect, with just enough time to enjoy every dish (and digest before the next one!). The vibe was relaxed, welcoming, and full of laughter — by the end, it felt like we’d spent the day with old friends. I’d recommend doing this tour early in your trip — Gerry gives great insight into how to use the MRT and subway, explains the different neighborhoods and hawker centres, and helps you feel confident exploring more on your own afterward. It’s the perfect start to experiencing Singapore’s incredible food culture.

5.00Gerry was a fantastic tour guide. He will give you a a day filled with fun and laughter and of course wonderful food. He filled the day with his passion to help keep the local people happy and thriving. Gerry painted a picture of what life is like through words, pictures and talking with the local venders. This is an experience you will treasure. 10+stars!

Having read some of the other reviews posted recently I can confirm that our experience was exactly the same. We really enjoyed the tour and Gerry was the absolute best guide.

5.00Gerry made 2 couples from Australia and two travelers from US feel like family. We spent most of the time laughing. Huge variety of foods. Gerry is an educator who shares his love and passion for the culture of Singapore. We hit the Chinese , Indian, Malay and Arabic neighborhoods and Gerry was well known by the locals. He gave informative and unvarnished insights. Cannot say enough good things about him and this food and culture experience

5.00What better way to learn about a city's culture than to walk through local areas and to experience daily life through food. We spent five hours with Gerry on what was a fabulous day. We learned about the Chinese, Indian and Arabic areas, and experienced excellent food and drink. Unlike most food tours, Gerry made sure we had enough to eat and drink while explaining the various customs of each area. We experienced local transportation, both rapid transit as well as a bus. We understood much more of the culture, customs, and laws of Singapore when we were finished. We mixed with locals the entire day and Gerry was a delight to have as our guide. Organized, very pleasant and so knowledgeable.
