This Mixed-Group tour brings you to the ethnic neighbourhoods of Chinatown, Little India & Kampong Glam. You will learn from your licensed guide and an academic historian about the history, people, culture & heritage of Singapore.
You will experience the everyday lives of the locals not only through sight and sound, but also through street food in UNESCO inscribed hawker centres. Get the chance to sample authentic local cuisines and drink, and experience street food trades that have been passed down from one generation to another. This will unfortunately disappear in time to come.
To experience the local experience even further, we will also be taking public transportation between the different ethnic quarters, which are efficient, convenient and comfortable.
This tour will help you understand how the locals live their lives, reflecting Singapore's unique multi-racial and cultural lifestyle, and at the same time filling your stomachs with an authentic experience of food and drink.

Chinatown
Your tour is a fun and educational discovery of 3 ethnic neighbourhoods: Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam. You will learn more about its history and experience local living, through walking in the area as well as sampling local street food at UNESCO inscribed hawker centres at Chinatown and Little India, and dessert in the Malay Quarter of Kampong Glam. In Chinatown, you will learn more about the lives of early Chinese immigrants who flocked here in large numbers due to the vibrant community and work opportunities. Businessmen, traders, craftsmen, hawkers and peddlers sought to make a living here. While some found success, many others found themselves succumbed to vices like opium, gambling and prostitution. Remnants of these memories can still be found along the streets of Chinatown and you will get the opportunity to relive the lives of the past in the present day.
Kampong Gelam
Your tour is a fun and educational discovery of 3 ethnic neighbourhoods: Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam with a street food experience at UNESCO inscribed hawker centres at Chinatown and Little India. In Kampong Glam, you will learn more about how this place came about and that Malay royalty used to govern Singapore, whose palace used to stand in the grounds. Be enthralled by the grand Sultan Mosque that still continues to attract Muslims from all over the island. It is an important focal point for religious, cultural and social activities. During the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, this area transforms into a popular night market with numerous food stalls as Muslims gather to await the prayer call to break their fast at sunset. You will get to sample locally known desserts by an independently run store in the area while soaking in the old and colourful wall murals that adorn all along the walls of shophouses.

5.00Gery was just amazing. Explaining all the details of the history of all the migrations to Singapore. Even had pictures of the way things were in the past. Took us to tocal eateries and always made sure we were comfortable. Just a terrific tour guide. Can't recommend him enough.

5.00Gerry was relaxed, fun, open. Food was AMAZING. I am not usually a "tour" guy, but this is really the only way for an outsider to see the places locals go. I wouldn't change a thing.

5.00I recently took a Singapore street food tour covering Chinatown, Little India, and Kampong Glam with Gerry! He was knowledgeable, personable, and passionate about the city’s food culture. Gerry pointed out historical and cultural context for each neighborhood, introduced us to must-try dishes, and navigated busy streets with ease. Highlights: Chinatown: Excellent popiah and Hainanese chicken rice from a bustling hawker stall; Gerry explained origins and cooking techniques. Little India: Flavorful biryani and dosa, with a stop at an Indian market that sold beautiful saris and fabrics of all colors. Kampong Glam: Aromatic Malay and Middle Eastern-influenced snacks, plus a memorable dessert at a family-run café while Gerry shared stories about the area’s heritage. Portions were generous enough to sample several items without feeling stuffed. Gerry balanced history, food lore, and practical tips (where to return later, what to avoid) and made the group feel comfortable and engaged. If you want a well-rounded, delicious, and culturally insightful introduction to Singapore’s street food, this tour with Gerry is highly recommended!

These weren’t touristy places, but authentic spots where locals actually eat, which made the experience even more special. The food was incredible—truly some of the best we’ve had. Gerry was beyond personable, fun, and incredibly knowledgeable. He also went above and beyond, generously offering multiple rounds of drinks, which is something you rarely see. The group was small (just five of us), which made it feel even more intimate and enjoyable. We did this on our last day, and it was the perfect way to end our trip—leaving with full bellies and a deeper appreciation for the local culture. Highly recommend—definitely a must-do in Singapore!

5.00Gerry took us on a wonderful tour of Singapores hawker stalls in three unique areas of the city. He was very personable and gave us a glimpse into the life of a Singaporean as well as history of the city which I wasn’t expecting on the tour. This wasn’t just a food tour, I felt like I learned some things I didn’t know by the end of it which I am grateful for. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel, was super convenient. Do not eat before this tour, the amount of food you will be presented with is substantial and our group wasn’t even able to finish all of it. Highly recommend this tour if you are visiting Singapore.

5.00So much fun. Very insightful on the history of the areas we visited and the unique development of Singapore over the years. Gerry is engaging, informative, on-time, and interesting. And then the food! Everything was so good. Everything. Bring an appetite. Do not eat breakfast. Do not plan on dinner. Just terrific. Highly recommend.

5.00Gerry was an awesome tour guide, aside from all the great food he had for us, his indepth knowledge of all places and history was very impressive, getting a perspective from a local was exactly what we wanted, not going to any of the touristy spots, one of the best tours we've ever been on, very comprehensive. well worth the cost of the tour. Kudos Gerry!!!
