Visit the marvelous towns of Sintra and Cascais and enjoy a day full of culture, breathtaking views and magnificent beaches. This tour will star with a walk in the historic center of Sintra where we can try the local specialty pastry (travesseiro) in its most iconic pastry shop. Afterwards, we will visit two monuments of your choice (Town Palace, Pena Palace, Regaleira, Montserrate, Castle of the Moors). We will then proceed towards the coast where we have lunch by the seaside. Continuing down the coast, we stop at Roca Cape, the most western point of continental Europe. Our day will end with a visit to the center and beaches of the charming town of Cascais.
Sintra National Palace
The millennial history of Sintra Town Hall begins during Muslim rule in the Iberian Peninsula. Already mentioned in the 11th century, the early Moorish palace - property of the Portuguese Crown after the conquest of Lisbon by D. Afonso Henriques (1147), 1st King of Portugal - is first intervened in 1281, during the reign of D. Dinis. New constructive bodies are added over time under the reigns of King Dinis, King John I and King Manuel I, maintaining their silhouette since the mid-16th century.

5.00Fabulous! Frederico was extremely knowledgeable, knew the roads & how to skip crowds, had great stories about the history of the palaces. We started in Lisbon, went to 3 palaces in Sintra; also took us to the lighthouse & stopped in Cascais. Highly recommend Frederico.

5.00Ines was amazing. She explained little known but extraordinary interesting things about what we were seeing. She completely tailored the visit and discussion to our interests and became a fast friend making it so much more enjoyable. It was like visiting with a friend and learning from her experience. It was fabulous. She navigated the experience and given the fact there were some kinks due to a running event, seamlessly provided ongoing narrative which made the day pass so quickly and enjoyably!

5.00We called a single day in advance and were able to schedule the tour to sintra and cascais at an excellent price for the group of 6. Ricardo was our guide and driver, the experience was very good. His explanations were clear (Spanish), he gave us good recommendations for food, supported with photos, always had a great attitude and always drove safely. We would definitely go back with him for some other tour in Lisbon.

5.00From beginning to end the tour was fantastic and our guide was knowledgeable and knew just the perfect places to visit. Her private tour of the palace in Sintra was a special treat. The best part was the fantastic place she brought us to have lunch. We would have otherwise wouldn’t know about the wonderful restaurant!

5.00Our trip to Lisbon had its challenges, my husband has Parkinson's disease and the steep hills and limited walking endurance might have prohibited seeing the sights we had wished for. However Ines Ramires gave us a day that completely met our dreams, and my husband's challenges. We went to Cascais and Sintra, she dropped us off close and went to park, she chose the most amazing beach restaurant and her wealth of knowledge and history made it unforgetable. Not to mention her amazing taste in boutiques. I left feeling we had left a friend whom we will always remember. Thank you Ines for an experience we may not have achieved!!!

5.00What a fun day exploring Portugal!! Fred was amazing and took us to a few really interesting "finds" in addition to the normal spots. Lunch was at a beautiful spot by the sea with excellent food and service. We would highly recommend using Tailor Made Travel on your visit to this beautiful country.

5.00Our family visited Portugal for 8 days and rented a car to travel north from Lisbon for 5 of those days. Friends had assured us that driving the highways of Portugal was pretty straightforward and actually we found it easier than driving our own metropolitan area. However, the guide books are correct about visiting Sintra; it's a confusing and crowded area to drive and you can waste a lot of precious time trying to see everything you want to see in a short period of time. If you don't know what you're doing, do not drive your rental car to Sintra, Cascais and the coast. That's where Inez, the owner of Tailor Made Travel, stepped in. Inez was able to drive our rental car for a day touring Sintra and then make her own way back to Lisbon while we continued on our trip north at the end of the day. We exchanged a few emails in advance of the trip to sketch out a plan for the day and then met at our hotel the day we arrived in Lisbon. Inez listens and adapts to your interests. She's very knowledgeable and fun to spend the day with. There is no way we could have toured the coastline, strolled Cascais, had a fabulous lunch at a cliffside restaurant overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and visited the castles that we wanted to see at their least crowded hours. She made everything easy and kept to our schedule. We would have ended the day frustrated and unhappy without her guidance. Thank you Inez!

5.00Inez came to us with glowing recommendations....but she was “even better “ We learned so many great details about the culture, as well as great stories about every stop Inez also personalized the day to meet our personal requests! We don’t remember a more amazing lunch if delicacies that were fresh from the water, and views equally exceptional
