  The cable car and train were fun but there was too much time in town. There just wsnt much happening there

• Kuranda, a fabulous option when Reef tours are canceled due to weather

  Spend the extra money for Gold Class. It was a fabulous experience. From the hotel pickup, great driver/guide to the easy navigation of the skyway, Kuranda town, dining options, and shopping to return trip on the train, it was a perfect day.

  Amazing experience!! High recommended. An experience not to be missed. Breathe taking views of the rainforest and Barron Falls from both the Skyrail and Kuranda train. Travelled to Kuranda via Skyrail. Stunning views of the rainforest and Barron Falls. We were able to stop and get off at Barron Falls to take photos and explore surroundings, before heading back onto the Skyrail to make our way to Kuranda. Return trip via Kuranda Gold Class train. A beautiful experience with drinks and food served. IC was a lovely and funny host. Train trip was very informative with commentary on how the train line was built. The train stopped to allow passengers to get off and view the Barron Falls. The only downside to booking this tour were the transfers from Kuranda train. We were required to get off at Freshwater rather than continue to head to Cairns City aboard the train. Transfers were a little pricey.

  This is a very relaxing and scenic trip. There are several miles of walking trails if you want more of a jungle experience... bring your own water.

  I booked this tour months in advance specifically for the Gold Class train experience. On the day of the tour, after boarding the coach, I was told that Gold Class was not available and that my only options were to travel in standard class or not go at all. The driver’s attitude was basically “too bad, that’s your problem.” Very poor organisation and communication. If Gold Class wasn’t available, this should have been communicated properly in advance.

  They took care of the logistics to make the sky rail and train ride to/from Kuranda easy and efficient. Hotel pick up on time.

• Amazing Rainforest Journey

  The weather forecast was calling for showers most of the day, however that wasn’t the reality. It was sunny and warm (30C/86F). Our Down Under Tours driver arrived on schedule for our self guided tour. Our journey started on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway with 2 transfers between cable cars. The Barron Falls Station provided views of the Barron Gorge and Barron Falls. The Skyrail provided breathtaking views of the Rainforest. Upon arrival in Kuranda, we wandered through the various shops then off to Kuranda Koala Gardens to see various Aussie animals and reptiles – Koalas, crocs, kangaroos and more. After lunch, we were off to Honey House Kuranda then catch the Kuranda Scenic Railway Gold Class back to Cairns. The scenic train ride in comfy seats was lovely and great scenery. The staff very friendly and the snacks very good. Lefthand seats provide the best views. We didn’t have time to tour Birdworld Kuranda. We recommend this excursion. The Skyrail and the Scenic Railway Gold Class provided awesome views and Kuranda was fun and very interesting to wander through.

  The train ride was lovely and great scenery. The staff very friendly. Unfortunately, taking the sky rail down was cancelled due to the weather. My recommendation would be to take the sky rail up in the morning and the train down, as thunderstorms are more disruptive in the afternoon, hence having to close down the sky rail.
