All the staff was very knowledgeable and very friendly. They made our trip extra special! Train was clean and snacks and drinks were delicious!

Overall a great experience. However had to share gondola with 3 different sets of foreginers which severely impacted my gondola ride experience. Suggest going in a group of 3 to avoid being paired with obnoxious foreginers.

We booked a gondola and return gold class train package through Viator who use Down Under tours to provide the minibus to and from the stations. The train was cancelled at 10am, whilst we were still on the Gondola yet they don't put out a board to alert you to this nor tell you once you reach Kuranda. There was no WiFi or phone reception in Kuranda so we didn't receive the email that was sent out at 11.59am telling us we could get the 2pm train back. The 2pm train back was fully booked so we wouldn't have been able to get on it, even if we had received the email 😏 I always ask the staff questions and I was told this is a frequent occurrence and when I asked why they couldn't put up boards to let international visitors know of cancellations I was told they "don't do this". Mel, in the Kuranda train office was very helpful. She told us that that they had booked a bus to collect us at our return time of 3.30pm and phoned Down Under to check that a bus would be waiting for us at Freshwater train station. She was assured there would be. The bus arrived and I had a long chat with the driver taking us to Freshwater station, our collection point. He told me that the trains are often cancelled and that his company are often used to provide the return trip. He was very negative about Down Under tours too. We arrived around at Freshwater around 4.10pm to find the station all locked up and no sign of any Down Under buses. After 15 minutes wait I phoned the Down Under office and was told that there had been a hold up in Cairns and that the bus was on its way. Around 4.45pm the bus arrived. If the train was running we were going to be collected at 5pm from Freshwater. I asked what the hold up in Cairns was and the bus driver told me he wasn't aware of any hold up. I'm not impressed with Viator for using companies with such bad track records of letting customers down

The SkyRail and Train were amazing. The town is small and even though we went to the butterfly sanctuary, shipped, and had lunch, we still felt like we had too much time in between arrival and departure. Overall had a good time and the Gold Class upgrade was worth it.

The village was fun to see and we enjoyed the butterflies. However the time there is of a long duration an we would have liked to have been able to leave sooner.
