You’ll also have the chance to visit the Canal museum where you’ll learn all about the function of the Canal, its history and be able to interact with simulators that will give you the experience of piloting one of the huge ships through the Canal from the captain's bridge. We were at Miraflores Visitor Center watching the boats go by, the place is under remodeling, so they made an annex to see the boats while the facilities are remodeled. The Panama film The Divided Land, narrated by Morgan Freeman is excellent, tells the story of the Channel and is included with the entrance to the Visitor Center.

The driver did not show up and no one answered any of the phone numbers and text numbers that I had! Since I am a travel agent, it was very embarrassing and it made me look like it was my fault. I have asked for our money back!

Mandatory stop for those visiting Panama City. The ticket includes both a visit to the Canal and a short documentary. Ships pass in the morning after 8.30am or after 2pm. We recommend watching the documentary to kill time while waiting for the first ship to cross the canal. The center does not offer much variety of food, only sandwiches and popcorn.

Mr. Pinto was an outstanding tour guide, and he made sure I was able to see the IMAX film after the entrance initially closed. The film was a highlight and not to be missed.

Excellent. Guide Luis was amazing. He explained everything about the Channel. It is a short tour of 2 1/2 hours.

It is nice to watch ships passing through the historic locks although you will be sitting directly in afternoon sun if you come at that time. The movie seems to be geared to making Panamanian 2nd graders feel good about themselves and is not worth seeing if you are not part of that demographic. You will learn virtually nothing about the construction of the canal from the movie other than it was first attempted at a high cost of lives by the French. The museum is slightly better, unsure if it is about the canal or Panamanian natural history. The visitor center in Colon is much better.

Center itself is good. Do not spend crazy money on overpriced “tours” the Miraflores entrance fee is $20 for non resident adults and free for kids under six. You get most of not all offered here included in that price. Taxis are safe and cheap. Uber even cheaper. So easy to do this yourself do not waste your money.

The Miraflores Center is where the visitors area of the Panama Canal is located. It is quite complete and spacious. In order to maximize the canal experience you must arrive at the same time 8 a.m. to enjoy the passage of the boats. Otherwise you will not be able to appreciate the crossing of boats through the locks. In the museum you can appreciate more of the history of the canal and it is interesting. They also give a film about the channel. I recommend arriving early so you can see the boats passing by and then you see the film and the museum

Canal museum is very interesting. Worth it to see how the locks work and how the cargo ships squeeeeeeze through! Admission is 15 or 20 bucks for non-residents.

We booked the tour as the second half of the Combo Pack tour through Panamazing so we had already done the Aerial Tram, Sloth Wildlife Sanctuary, Butterfly and Frog sanctuaries and then the Boats out to Monkey Island. So it was 2:30pm and VERY hot when we did this tour. Our tour guide Guillermo picked us up from the Gamboa Resort and as we drove to the Canal he gave us tidbits of facts in regards to the country and we had chances to ask him questions. We arrived at the Miraflores Locks and right away he looked to see where the next ship that was coming through was and gauged our time through the 4 floors of the museum. We went through each floor which had interesting displays on the development of the locks and Guillermo added interesting facts as we went as well. We could have spent a little more time going through the museum but then we would have missed the actual event of ship going through. We were lucky enough to see a "Panamax" ship go through which is the largest ship that can go through. It was awesome to see the locks in motion and to witness something I will probably only need or want to see once but definitely well worth the visit.
