Pompeii Archaeological Park
Pompeii was an ancient Roman city near modern Naples in the Campania region of Italy, in the territory of the comune of Pompei. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum and many villas in the surrounding area (e.g. at Boscoreale, Stabiae), was buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79.

Pompeii was mesmeric and our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and informative. I highly recommend this part of the trip. We will be visiting again when the amphitheatres are open. It would have been more honest if the tour operator had told us these parts of Pompeii are not visited by the tour, due to the amphitheatres being used for concerts June - August. Mount Vesuvius was a bit of a let down and I would strongly advise against spending your money on it -especially as doubling it up with the Pompeii tour makes it so expensive. It was like travelling to see an old quarry with cheap and nasty stalls on the way up. It was very tacky, and the Tour operator should definitely have given prior warning about the slippy nature of the paths up! Sturdy shoes required! On the whole, it was overpriced, but a good day out, despite the tour operator's poor communication at time of booking.

The tour guide Angela was FABULOUS and the driver was AMAZING as he navigated the narrow hairpin turns going up and down Mount Vesuvius. Great day!

I doubled booked by mistake, tried to immediately cancel but both Viator and the tour operator refused to reimburse. I took their tour so they know I’m not taking it again. . So recommend using other services.

Very good organization with full coverage of our expectations. Consistency in meeting time. Excellent tour by Michelle. Visiting Pompeii was a unique experience. The bus transfer to the highest possible point on Mount Vesuvius gave us the opportunity to climb the crater. Thanks for all.

I would not recommend this tour. Our tour guide (Rebecca or Roberta) was rushing us from site to site so there was no time to fully appreciate the view and the ruins. On top of that the group was too big. We were travelling with older people and kids in our family so had to lag behind. The listening radio was not long distance we missed many dialogues and our tour guide would not repeat them. The lunch was definitely not worth the price as the food was terrible. The coach driver had an awful attitude and the so called AC was non existent. The bus was very hot! Roberta was not helpful or approachable and to many of the questions her answers were one-worded answers. The Mt. Vesuvius was ok - when we got to the top the view of the gulf of Naples was beautiful but the crater was underwhelming. I have seen more interesting craters before! The guide told us it would take 25 minutes to climb up, 30 minutes to walk around the crater, and 20 minutes to walk down. This was all false including the part where she said the trek was easy. On the way up it took around half an hour. Let me tell you, your shoes matter. Whatever anyone tells you the gravel is slippery. On the walk (or rather slide down) it took 20 minutes but again you definitely need to wear the right shoes, bring a hat, and lather up on sunscreen. I think you are better off going with a smaller tour group, with a more personable guide and an a/c coach.
