  I had a great tour with Kelvin who is an enthusiastic & knowledgeable guide. We saw probiscus monkeys, long tail macaques, had a great time on Sky Mirror beach. Kelvin is an excellent photographer & took some great pictures. The tour was capped off with fireworks & fireflies. It was a perfect excursion well run, fun & delivered.

  The arrangement was seamless, but above all, our guide, James, made the whole adventure one big mass of fun and excitement. I was most impressed by the zeal with which he searched for proboscis monkeys among the trees, telling the boat driver to manoeuvre the boat back and forth for a better position to catch sight of the elusive animal, and the devotion he gave to shooting the most spectacular silhouettes for us (the sky mirror phototaking): he practically sprawled himself on the beach in the course of shooting the pictues. At the end of it I thought of gratuities to show my appreciation, but didn't do it, for I felt that James was doing all this for us as well as for himself ---- he was enjoying his work as a tour guide, which made him the best guide for it us the tour members.

• A firefly in our hearts

  We went with our one year old child, and the staff, especially Kelvin were very understanding and supporting of having a young child which meant that we could all get the best out of the trip. We saw a whole troupe of Proboscus monkeys, small gators, monitor lizards (including two of them mating and one climbing a tall tree) and diverse native plant species but the highlight was in the evening watching the sunset on the (allbeit slightly polluted) beach and seeing the fireflies on the way back (with over-enthusiastic guides catching fireflies the whole time😅). All in all a great experience which is definitely possible with a kid/kids.

  The experience was nothing short of amazing. Although we didn’t manage to catch the Proboscis monkeys as they were shy & hiding. The driver/guides Nick & Kelvin were amazing & entertaining in their tour & assisted with taking nice pictures at the beach. They were also very patient and helpful throughout. I went with my mom & grandma & the experience throughout was fun & enjoyable. They even helped my grandma on & off the boat.

  1h30 drive then we arrive near the river. Small snack (coffee, tea or orange juice) then boat ride up the river to see the Nassists. We saw one from afar. It must be said that there are a large number of boats that do the same thing. Far too much for the animals to feel quiet. Then return for a meal and then descend to the sea to see the sunset. It is very beautiful but you have to love the company because the beach is crowded (99% Chinese tourists) but photographers know their work well and you will have very nice photos. • Magical half day tour

  James communicated via WhatsApp before the tour and collected us in a van on time. We booked this tour as Bongawan River is around 1.5hrs from KK where Klias River is a 2hr drive. On arrival at the village, we were offered a light snack of fruit and a cold drink before we hopped on a boat in search of Borneo's wildlife and saw proboscis monkeys, long-tailed macaques, monitor lizards and birds. Some were closer to the river than others. Thankfully, I did not see James offer any bananas to the monkeys, nor did it look like the monkeys were looking for offerings from the boats. There was no shouting at the wildlife either as per other reports. We respectfully and quietly observed them. Back at the wharf area, we had a simple buffet meal - chicken, rice and vegetables. We were back on the boats and cruised to Superview Beach and watched the sky-mirror phenomenon. The beach was crowded with tourists but we managed to get some space and James took some amazing photos of us which we will treasure. As we headed back to the wharf we slowly drove past the mangroves to see the fireflies - as one guest said they look like little Tinkerbells. It was truly magical when they flew inside the boat. I understand that the fireflies do not come out if it's raining. James was an engaging host, full of excitement and eager to show off what the area has to offer.

  

  

  

  

• Sky Mirror and Firefly

  There are several river cruises, this tour allows you to experience the sky mirrors. The guide was probably very good at taking pictures, and he took pictures while playing nice and gentle with small children. I was really impressed by that. I also got to see a lot of fireflies on the river cruise, and they caught me and gently held me in the hands of my children as they approached, which is something I will always remember. It's a really great tour.

  We booked this trip last minute and we are so glad we did. A very enjoyable and well organised excursion from start to finish. Bird our guide was so friendly, informative and on hand to take lots of memorable photos. The itinerary was excellent and we felt fortunate to see the Proboscis and Long tail monkeys, a stunning sunset on the beach plus the finale of beautiful fireflies.   With raining, the sunset photo session and firefly tour were canceled. There were backup plan, so we had to back to hotel.

  We got to see and feed the monkeys with bananas. Unfortunately we didn't spot any proboscis monkeys.. The food were amazing! After dinner we went to the beach and spotted a beautiful sunset , the guides helped taking photos of us which was very kind. After the sunset, we spotted fireflies on the way back. Lovely day! Our guide Oning was also very kind! Don't forget mosquito repellent!
