Tbilisi

We pick you up from Tbilisi hotel at 08:00 and transfer you to Senaki Caffe Apetito (4 hr 3 min (286 km). On the way, we do several stops to stretch the legs.13:00-14:00 Meet with other members joining from Kutaisi and Batumi at Senaki Kafe Apetito near Senaki State Drama Theater.

First, stop at Nokalakevi archaeological museum-reserve. The guided excursion lasts about one hour. During this time you wander through renovated museum halls, churches, citadel, and an escape tunnel.

Martvili Canyon

Discover the natural wonders of Georgia in the next one hour: admire the green scenery of unique Colchian forests surrounding Martvili Canyon. Next take a 20 minutes boat trip in the Abasha river, 300 meters (one way) section of Abasha, and enjoy the breathtaking views of the canyon. By the evening arrive in the small town of Martvili. Overnight in a local family guesthouse, where you get the chance to get acquainted with a rural lifestyle.

Mukhuri

In the evening arrival in Mukhuri, a small town, where tourists usually pass by. Unique place! Have dinner at winery Obene Mukhuri. The small family guesthouse is the only opportunity for an overnight here, but on the other hand, we have the best chance to explore the real local lifestyle. River Enguri

08:30 Breakfast at the guesthouse. Head to Mestia, driving upwards to Caucasus mountain serpentines. 20-30 minutes photo stop at Enguri hydroelectric Dam-an impressive Soviet construction (1 h from Chkhorotsku – 50 km). It requires 2 h, 20 min nonstop drive to Upper Svaneti, but we do as many stops as necessary on the way.

Margiani's House Museum

14:00 Arrive in Mestia, an administrative center of Svaneti region, surrounded by three major ancient villages Latali, Lenjeri and Mulakhi and visit defensive towers decorated with medieval frescos. See Svaneti's housing estate tower-museum of Margiani (12th c.), Seti square.

Svaneti Museum of History and Ethnography

Visit Svaneti Museum of History and Ethnography, displaying old Georgian manuscripts, ethnographic and archaeological materials, Georgian Orthodox icons painted in the Svan style etc.

Ushguli

Take a 4x4 drive to Ushguli, nestled in the upper Enguri Valley below Georgia's highest peak, Mt. Shkhara (5193m). This enchanting UNESCO-listed village, known for its 40+ ancient Svan towers, has preserved its timeless charm despite growing tourism.

Dadiani Palaces Historical and Architectural Museum

Breakfast in Mestia guesthouse and drive to Zugdidi, the present-day administrative center of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Region. During the next one hour, we visit Dadiani Palace Historical Museum and Botanical garden. You can purchase local spices, homemade sauces, Sulguni, and honey at Zugdidi farmer’s market. Drive back to Tbilisi. Evening drop off to your hotel for overnight. Optional Gala dinner in Tbilisi restaurant should be arranged in advance. Our 4-day tour is over!
