A unique culinary adventure awaits in the heart of Lapland, where you’ll learn to prepare and hot-smoke delicious salmon from our river using traditional Sámi techniques, right beside a crackling wood fire you will build yourself with special Arctic methods we’ll teach you. Guided by a passionate local, this hands-on workshop immerses you in the serene Arctic landscape as you savor the authentic flavors of local cuisine.

If the weather allows, the experience even takes place right by the river — and with a bit of luck, the Northern Lights may dance above your head. An amazing and delicious moment, lovingly crafted for our dear guests, and unlike anything offered elsewhere.

You will be welcomed by our friendly guide, who will introduce you to the traditional Sámi way of hot-smoking salmon and explain each step from A to Z. You’ll begin by learning how to build an Arctic fire — and then make it yourself, a fun and memorable activity our guests always enjoy. Next, we’ll prepare the metal smoking box and get it ready for a salmon fillet freshly sourced from Inari lake. You’ll discover how this special hot-smoking technique works, very different from the cold smoking you may know. Once the salmon is ready, you’ll enjoy it in a warm atmosphere with ingredients chosen to highlight its flavor. After the meal, you’re invited to continue the experience with our traditional sauna — and perhaps step into the snow under the Northern Lights! You’ll spend a memorable evening at Muotkan Ruoktu in Muotkantunturi National Park, a place known for its traditions, landscapes, and welcoming spirit. The entire experience is offered in small groups and at a tranquil pace so you can fully enjoy the magic of Lapland.
