Laughing Bird Caye is a National Park and World Heritage Site. It is a long and narrow island known for its abundance of marine life and corals. The name comes from the gulls that are among the many birds that Inhabit the north end of the caye. Laughing Bird Caye offers excellent snorkeling as would be expected at a national park. On the east side of the island coral mounds separated by sandy patches rise to about 5 feet from the surface. These mounds have a variety of coral types which are home to lobsters, barracuda, lizardfish, angel fish, parrot fish, spotted drums, southern rays and a myriad of reef fish. On the west side your guide will find lobster, barracuda, lizardfish, Nassau grouper, angel fish, furry sea cucumbers, conch and lots and lots of colourful juvenile reef fish.

Laughing Bird Caye National Park
Depart Splash Dive Center at 09:00 am for the 30 to 40 minute boat ride to Laughing Bird Caye National Park. This is the most popular Inner Reef dive destination. Upon arrival expect a briefing from the park ranger and then head into the water with your licensed snorkel guide. If you have not snorkelled before, no problem. Our guides are happy to show you the ins and outs of snorkeling and how to find the good stuff. Critters include spotted drum, huge lobsters, cleaner shrimp, arrow crabs, snapper, barracuda and more varieties of reef fish than you can count. l Around mid day you’ll enjoy a Belize style picnic lunch or a barbecue on the island. Then, you would head back into the water for more underwater exploration. There are lots of areas with healthy corals and abundant aquatic life to check out before heading back to Placencia.

5.00Highly recommend this tour! It was the best snorkeling we have ever done. The guides and crew were amazing! Saw tons of fish and sharks. Took many great photos of them.

4.00The island was a beautiful spit of sand with a picnic area and loungers. There was loads of fish, couple of reef sharks, and lots of colourful coral. No turtles though. Guides were helpful and kind.

5.00If you are looking for a stellar snorkeling experience, look no further. We went out on New Year's Day and it was the perfect way to welcome in the new year! The variety of wildlife was insane—seeing octopuses and sharks in the wild was a core memory for my family. A massive shoutout to Duce, our guide. He is a wealth of knowledge and has such a warm, welcoming energy. He went above and beyond to make sure we saw as much as possible while keeping the vibe fun and relaxed. Thank you, Duce, for making our first day of 2026 so special!

5.00We had an amazing time and my wife was more impressed with this tour than the hol chan tours we did. Lots of corals, lots of fish, some nurse shark and more. Mar was our guide and she did a great job taking care of us. The winds were bad so we had to stay to the inside of the caye to avoid the choppy water, but we still had an amazing time. Mar was very knowlegeable and shared so much information with us. They also provided a wonderful lunch for us. We will definately be doing more tours with Splash Dive Center and would be happy if Mar was our guide again.
