Laughing Bird Caye is a National Park and World Heritage Site. It is a long and narrow island known for its abundance of marine life and corals. The name comes from the gulls that are among the many birds that Inhabit the north end of the caye. Laughing Bird Caye offers excellent snorkeling as would be expected at a national park. On the east side of the island coral mounds separated by sandy patches rise to about 5 feet from the surface. These mounds have a variety of coral types which are home to lobsters, barracuda, lizardfish, angel fish, parrot fish, spotted drums, southern rays and a myriad of reef fish. On the west side your guide will find lobster, barracuda, lizardfish, Nassau grouper, angel fish, furry sea cucumbers, conch and lots and lots of colourful juvenile reef fish.

Laughing Bird Caye National Park
Depart Splash Dive Center at 09:00 am for the 30 to 40 minute boat ride to Laughing Bird Caye National Park. This is the most popular Inner Reef dive destination. Upon arrival expect a briefing from the park ranger and then head into the water with your licensed snorkel guide. If you have not snorkelled before, no problem. Our guides are happy to show you the ins and outs of snorkeling and how to find the good stuff. Critters include spotted drum, huge lobsters, cleaner shrimp, arrow crabs, snapper, barracuda and more varieties of reef fish than you can count. l Around mid day you’ll enjoy a Belize style picnic lunch or a barbecue on the island. Then, you would head back into the water for more underwater exploration. There are lots of areas with healthy corals and abundant aquatic life to check out before heading back to Placencia.

Unforgettable Snorkeling at Silk Caye

5.00Our snorkeling trip to Silk Caye was absolutely breathtaking and truly unforgettable. Being able to experience the beauty of the reef up close — the vibrant coral, colorful fish, and even swimming near nurse sharks — felt surreal and once-in-a-lifetime. Our guide Carzon was incredible from start to finish. He was patient, kind, and so attentive the entire trip. When I started feeling a little nauseous from the salt water, he immediately stepped in to help me in the ocean and made sure I felt safe and comfortable. That level of care made such a difference and allowed us to fully enjoy the experience. This was one of the most memorable parts of our trip to Belize, and we’re so grateful for such a beautiful, well-guided adventure. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting!

5.00We were on this tour with Splash today and had an absolutely spectacular time. Our guides, Erin, Sigourney and Carson went out of their way to make sure the experience was top shelf all the way. They took great care of us and ensured we saw as many fish, coral and other ocean life as the reef had to offer including nurse sharks, stingrays, spiny lobsters, a good sized red snapper and too many other species to name them all. Laughing Bird Caye is a glorious island with incredibly soft sand - a truly magical place that the Belizean community is working hard to preserve. The only downside of the adventure was the rough boat ride out. Nothing the Splash team could control but something that people who don't like rough waters should take into consideration before booking. I should mention that it was a particularly windy morning so I am sure the ride would not always be as rough as ours was today.

5.00Beautiful place to snorkle in paradise. Sig, Kendrick,Captain John and Ciran made sure we were safe the entire trip. I was very anxious about being in the water but Sig and Kendrick made sure I felt safe and in control. Thank you to the entire Splash team.

5.00Splash Dive center was great! They really seemed to enjoy what they do and wanted us to have a great time. We saw many great fish and sea creatures. Best tour food of our trip.

5.00Our resort set up our snorkeling excursion. Upon arrival, the employees were very welcoming and friendly. We tried to go to Silke Caye, but the waters were too rough, so we detoured to Laughing Bird. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and so fun!!! We had a guided snorkeling trip, Eric had so much information about the sea life and caye, we learned a lot. I highly recommend scheduling a trip with them, they make you feel like family.

5.00The staff were very helpful in equipping or family for the day. It was the the most organized dive shops I've been to. The guides in the water, Brian and Carson, had incredible knowledge of the fish and sea life. They pointed out sea creatures I would never have spotted on my own. The reef was the best I've had the chance to snorkel around. Would do it again in a heat beat if/when we return to Palencia

5.00Great beach and snorkeling and our guides were great! Moses was very knowledgeable and good about pointing different things, like spiny lobster hiding under the coral.

5.00We really enjoyed our trip. The snorkeling was awesome and the tour guys were fantastic. We definitely recommend this tour. You can bring your own equipment, but we used theirs, and it worked really well. We had a six-year-old with us, and he really enjoyed the experience as well. They helped to make sure that he was safe and had a fun time snorkeling.

5.00Great staff very knowledgeable. Definitely worth it. Wear and pack sunscreen. Saw nurse sharks and barracuda among many other fish.
