Experience the Caribbean way of life. Go snorkeling, relax at the beach, have a swim, and enjoy some freshly grilled fish. This activity takes place at Donkey beach, a rocky beach with some patches of sand. There is plenty of shade from the trees. This is where the locals hang out and celebrate birthdays with their families in the weekends. From the beach you walk straight into the crystal clear waters that are teeming with all kinds of different fish and corals. We will show you how local people use traditional fishing methods to catch fish. Then it's time to clean some fresh fish and fry them up on the grill. Of course you’re welcome to help along!

It's rather difficult to do but extremely fun at the same time. You should know the basics of snorkeling and floating first though. You just float and release a line with chicken as bait and wait for a grouper to latch on. Lots of different fish to look at. It was beautiful. The guide was extremely fun and friendly. The fish was amazing. I did not catch any but he did so it was amazing! Very happy with this experience.

Hans grilled up some tasty fish, and we saw a variety of beautiful fish snorkeling! Water is beautiful and the trees on the beach provided shade.

What a wonderful morning! We loved meeting Frans and his family. He was a thoughtful guide who brought everything needed for a fish cookout on a lovely stretch of Donkey Beach. We had such fun trying our hand at traditional fishing and catching a couple of little fish. Highly recommended for a memorable day of fishing, snorkeling, and kind conversation.

We were super excited to learn a new method of fishing. It was so much fun to snorkel and fish with a hand line, all while you are seeing the corals and creatures below. Franz and his daughter were so welcoming. He explained everything in detail and kept checking in with you while you were in the water, which made you feel safe and was much appreciated! I can’t begin to tell you how delicious the fresh caught fish was that was cooked right there on the beach! Some of the best grouper & snapper we’ve eaten. We could have stayed there all day. Hands down, this was the best part of our trip! ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND!! 😎

We had a fantastic time snorkeling and learning how to fish with a hand line. Catching our own fish and then having it fried to perfection was definitely a highlight of our trip. Hands down the best fried fish we had while on the island, can’t get any fresher and better than freshly caught grouper. Frans and his family were super welcoming and accommodating which made the whole experience even better. A great way to spend a morning in Bonaire. 1000% must do!

We had a great time on this tour. Franz and Marie offer a very personal tour and were very accomodating when we wanted to add more people last minute. The snorkeling was amazing and had a great variety of sea life especially being so close to shore. The guys went out further snorkeling to a drop off and spool fished with instructions from Franz. My husband, as a hobby fisherman, was ecstatic to catch fish a new way. Franz also brought more fresh caught fish to cook on the beach to feed us all. We had snapper and grouper, with the grouper being a group favorite. We would definitely recommend this tour option.

Franz was a great, personable host of a simple half-day outing that was truly relaxing. Snorkelling was good right off the shore of Donkey Beach and I even caught a grouper which Franz fried up on the beach. I could've stayed all day!

We did this excursion in March 2024 at the end of our holiday and loved it so much that we wanted to do it again this year right at the beginning of our holiday. With many good tips we could get started the next day with a good result. Definitely recommended!

We had a great afternoon with Frans and Marie and their girls....we snorkeled out and caught a couple snappers that Frans fried up on the beach for us.....a great value for this excursion...can't get any fresher.....it was one of the highlights of our trip

Personal attention, safe and a great family that is your guide. I had so much fun snorkeling and fishing! My husband stayed closer to the shore but still saw plenty of fish while snorkeling. Best overall excursion we have ever taken!
