The snorkel tour to Islandel Caño was amazing and the guides were fantastic! Ozzy was our guide and he was very knowledgeable, safety oriented, and friendly. All the other guides were equally friendly, helpful, and experienced. They all made the trip very special for my friends and I, pointed out incredible creatures to everyone in the tour and made sure everyone got the chance to see amazing things. I was a little worried going in November after reading the visibility may not be the best given the rain and time of year, but we got lucky with a beautiful sunny day, no rain, and great visibility. We were pleased to see white tipped reef sharks, lots of exotic fish, beautiful sea stars, eels, and dolphins on the way back on the boat ride. Thank you Costa Ballena Tours! I will note, if you do this trip, please bring reef safe sunscreen. They mention this in the packing list but people don't listen. Additionally, the lunch time and location is dependent upon the currents of the water and weather conditions etc. Our guide made sure we got the most water time before the weather turned bad, so our lunch ended up being after the entire tour which means if you arrive on time at 6:30 AM, you will not return to land until around 1:30 for the lunch. This doesn't always happen, but we were very glad we came prepared. I would absolutely come prepared after eating a big breakfast and bringing a dry bag with snacks. They do provide snacks on the boat but if you know you need lots of food after a long swim/time in the sun, bring a dry bag with snacks to sustain yourself before lunch! We did this and it helped a lot with keeping the vibe up!
