Nothing can be more magical than watching the sun rise over the mountains whilst stood at the summit of Snowdon, the highest point in Wales. Join us on this unique challenge to climb Snowdon while most are still in bed.
You’ll start your climb while it’s still dark with the only light coming from your head torch and the moon. Safely accompanied by your mountain guide you’ll arrive at the summit just in time to watch the sun rise in the distance.

We run our Snowdon Sunrise group hikes throughout the summer, or if you want to make a private booking, we’ll also offer alternate dates and route choices. We’ll chat to you in advance and ensure you’ve got the right gear for an enjoyable day out. On the day you’ll meet your Snowdon guide at the start point who’ll lead you safely to the summit (and back again!). Along the way they’ll share interesting facts (did you know when Snowdon was originally formed it was six times higher?), teach you some Welsh language (ask them how to pronounce the nearby village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch) and tell bad jokes (how do you know what the weather’s like at the top of a mountain? You climb-it (climate – get it?)).

5.00We climbed Mount Snowdon at dawn with a guide from Mountain Xperience. Hywen was brilliant, knew the mountain backwards and got us to the top in time for dawn with enough breaks for the whole group. I would highly recommend!!!!!

5.00What an incredible, unforgettable experience with a great group of people despite not seeing the sunrise due to the weather. Our guide, Hywyn, was fantastic. His knowledge of Snowdon and the surrounding area was second to none. Aside from his friendliness and professionalism (pace setting, expert guidance and encouragement when needed ) he is a born storyteller and had some wonderful stories to tell! Thank you Hywyn! It was a real pleasure!

5.00The weather was awful but despite this we were very well taken care of and managed to reach a safe midway stop my grandson and I will remember this experience with pride and a feeling of accomplishment plus the stories given by our guide Herwen were fantastic definitely will be doing this again and the book of how to climb a mountain written by Simon was extremely helpful prior to our adventure

5.00The most amazing trip with a delightful guide, Hywyn. We had the blessing of seeing a cloud inversion plus a sunrise. This was my first hike and I felt supported, encouraged and thankfully distracted by the climb whilst listening to all of Hywyns stories! Highly recommend ✨

5.00We had such a great time doing the sunset tour and although we didn’t see the sunrise due to the weather we are so glad we did this nevertheless! We cannot thank our guide Hywyn enough, he made the trip really Interesting, was extremely knowledgeable and we shared many laughs together along the route! We highly recommend 😊

5.00Just a quick note to say thank you to our amazing guide Hywyn. He guided three of us on our sunrise hike up Yr Wydffa (on 10/10/25) with the perfect mix of encouragement, enthusiasm, stories so we could catch our breath and give our legs a break and belief in us. We were three very different people and he successfully got us all up to the summit as the sun rose (with a stunning inversion !) There were times on the way up when i thought i would have to stop…but Hywyn was positive i would make it and i did. Thank you for your support and belief and for enabling me to have such an amazing experience Hywyn!

5.00Hywyn was an amazing guide we were forecast heavy rain and told we would turn round if conditions wernt safe, we made it to the top there was no sunrise but amazing veiws and Hywyn was very knowledgeable we felt safe at all times even considering the conditions :)

5.00I wasn’t originally taking part in this night time / sunrise experience and was pretty much the taxi and breakfast maker for my wife on her return who wanted to do it. I was somehow talked into participating and it was simply fantastic. I’m not what I’d call super fit so was a bit worried about keeping up but our guide Hywyn kept me motivated, he was so knowledgable about every part of our surroundings and kept my spirits high with his humour and stories. I opted to purchase a head torch from MountainX which I received at the meeting point, it was great quality for the money paid and lit up the path as we climbed. The darkness doesn’t prevent you from seeing the breath taking views but gives you an alternate perspective with the moon light, cloud, stars and silhouettes of this amazing landscape. We weren't lucky enough to catch a sunrise at the summit due to the cloud but this took nothing away from the experience. Coming down in the morning light again gave you different and spectacular views of our surroundings and most of all why we’d just achieved. I’d recommend MountainXperience to anyone wanting to have this experience, thanks again Hywyn and yes as you ask me back at the bottom , I’m so glad I did do it. John
