Camp Tamok – one of my biggest issues was trying to understand what was on offer at Camp Tamok. The Norwegian Travel website is really difficult to use and it was very hard to get accurate reviews of activities. Had it been easier to do I am 100% sure we would have booked more activities at Camp Tamok and probably would have even stayed for a few nights. We were snowmobiling and very much looking forward to this, as you would expect the departure for the bus station was handled efficiently. We were going to be on the bus for about 90 minutes, as it was that was extended by 1 hour when our bus driver struggled to get up a small incline. OK these things happen, BUT, he seemed rather out of his depth, he then spent the next hour trying to fit snow chains to the bus which he could not do! A basic requirement in Norway I would think! Luckily, he took another run at the hill and we got up it! I am not sure what would have happened had we not, we had at least another 10 – 15 minutes driving before arriving. The whole area was spectacular, crisp white snow and as luck would have it amazing NL dancing in the sky upon arrival. I did have some concerns that Camp Tamok would be large and slightly commercial, it was not, it had a cosy cabin vibe. We were ushered to the toilets (non-optional) and then ushered to a room to get fully kitted out in our arctic suits and helmets etc. This was all efficiently done, especially as there was a family already there waiting. We got this done with pretty quicky, onto the safety briefing and off we went. Our guide was efficient and professional. It was great fun, I was apprehensive about driving (I was the only lady who did) but it was very easy, pretty much a just pull the lever and go. We had a little practice in a flat wide area to start and then off on the trails, it was brilliant. I am sure we were not going that fast, but it felt like it! We then went to a beautiful quiet clearing and stopped where we could enjoy the NL, our guide took photos and drivers swapped over. The time went way too quickly on this trip, and I would firmly say it is a MUST DO. We did not feel like our activity was cut short even though we arrived late. Afterwards we went into the tent for a hot meal and drinks (that was a bit rushed), luckily the driver was told to wait on so we did get some extra time to have a walk around and see the lights again. I feel that we missed out really, had we known what else was on offer we would have probably booked more activities with them. If we go back again we will stay there, it had a magical feel, was exactly as you expect a snowy, cold as Norway should be. It was the coldest night at minus 4 degrees. All the staff were very friendly.

Very fun experience even during a blizzard. Safety was the main concern at the location which we were happy about. They also give you a winterized suit which was very warm .

Overall, my experience with Norwegian Travel has been quite disappointing. The expeditions they provided were decent, but that is only because of the guides loving their job and providing a good experience. The rest of the organisation however is terrible - transport to and from the camp was overbooked which meant we had to wait for another bus (and that means that someone else who was not supposed to take our places was allowed to). A compensation was offered - we accepted it and never received it. Due to bad weather, a part of the expedition was cancelled and we were told that we would get a refund - this refund was never received (2 months since the date of statement). Overall, they don't care about you as a customer at all. You are far better off going with another activity provider.

We had booked husky sledging but got a text two hours before telling us it was cancelled. We walked to the office and asked what else was available that day. Only snowmobile was abandon we booked it. Our guide Thomas was very good. Clear and straightforward instructions and equipment allocation. My husband drove first (he has motorbike experience) then we swapped. I was nervous and slow. I didn’t feel confident to be part of the group of 4 snow mobiles so quickly so swapped back. I wish I’d had a bit more time to familiarise myself but didn’t want to slow the group. Amazing nighttime views of the mountains. Make sure you wrap up with all offered as a passenger you get cold! Food after was really delicious!

We spent a few fantastic days around the Tromso beautiful surroundings. Last day we decided to go to Tromso and booked a snowmobile tour. When we arrived to Tromso there was a running marathon and we found most of the roads to the Norwegian Travel agency closed. Because of that we had to park a bit far and we arrived at 17:05 when the meeting time was at 17:00. We were a group of 4 people and we have paid 1,063euro. When we arrived, the tour bus had left without us without even giving us a phone call. The tour staff were rude to us. Unacceptable.

Pros: + The camp's facilities are really good (changing rooms, toilets, etc) + The food was good (reindeer soup, bread and hot blackcurrant juice) + We were there during a strong Aurora, which meant we got some fantastic images of the Northern Lights. + The equipment they provide was great. In theory, you don't need to take anything with you. + Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Cons: - You're actually only snowmobiling for about an hour on a 7 hour round trip. They told us we would be snowmobiling for around 45 minutes per driver (90 mins total) but because they were running behind schedule, this couldn't happen. We took far too long to get ready, and there was no real effort made by staff to hurry people along, which ate into our experience. - It's a bit of a pot-luck how fast you get to go, depending on other guests in your group. In our case, we didn't go beyond 18-20km hour, which was unfortunate. I've done tours in Lapland where we were able to go much faster (35km hour and beyond).

Henrik and Jenny were amazing guides! Definitely worth the trip. They guided us up the mountain and had excellent pastries and hot chocolate afterwards.

The entire Oslo airport was closed due to a blizzard for the first time in many years. This caused us to have legitimately no way to make it to Tromso for the snowmobiling which we were so looking forward to. All the other providers - Hotel and another adventure we booked were kind enough to make an exception and refund us except this one. Absolutely awful business practice and I’ll be sure that if we ever come to Tromso we book with literally anyone else.
