  Overall good. The snow mobile experience was very good. The lunch was great. We expected to be a little farther out in Arctic tundra but it was much closer to Kiruna. We were told that we would not see Reindeer about a month before the event without a deeper explanation. The trip was non refundable which became a problem when we accidentally booked it for the wrong date. It became very difficult to reschedule it.

• Fabulous place to see the northern lights with opportunities for adventure and exploration too.

  My son and I spent 4 nights at the Mattharaka Lodge to celebrate our birthdays and I would happily have stayed longer. Fabio and Mikko led the tours around the local area and were knowledgeable, interesting and great fun. The lodge was warm and cosy, the breakfasts were a buffet style serve yourself and were excellent. Tea and coffee was available all day. The bedrooms were compact and very comfortable, with a seating area, en suite bathroom and good beds. It’s a family run lodge and all the staff were very friendly - it feels like a home away from home. Chef Alex provided a few meals on request (lunch or dinner) and they were very good. We were provided with all the cold weather gear for our time there and, as the weather was unseasonably cold, this was essential. We visited the Sami, went dog sledding (highly recommended with this tour) and practised mindfulness in a tipi ( then later with the dogs) and went snowmobiling twice. Once in the dark and once at sunrise. There’s a hot tub up on the roof (which you need to book) and a sauna in the lodge itself. And, very importantly, we saw the northern lights. There’s a clear viewing area facing north at the lodge. We had one excellent viewing and one with a green glow. We were also taken to a frozen lake one night. Fabulous stars though not much aurora action. The lodge is situated on the edge of the wilderness and there are numerous paths that have been compacted so that you can go walking on your own. The lodge is close to Kiruna, a mining town if you wanted some shopping but far enough away to feel like a retreat (about 10 minutes from the airport). We spent our free time hiking into the snowy wilderness. This is a fabulous place to go and stay if you want to see the northern lights - everyone goes out of their way to try and ensure you have the best chance.   Great ride through a breathtaking landscape. The snowmobile rides great and is really fun. We were always safe on the road. Both participants were allowed to change and drive several times. During a break we were even allowed to try our hand at ice fishing, even if we had unfortunately not caught anything. Even the food after arrival (traditional fish soup) was very delicious.

  Everything was absolutely perfect and we were lucky enough to see a rain of Northern Lights. The snowmobile tour is definitely worth the trip

  We chose this Hotel for the fourth time and mark our 60 years of marriage We were there for 2 weeks from 06 to 20 August 2022 , We were welcomed as if we were family by the great family of the Sanctuary that makes us vibrate day and night with their joies de vivre , their personalized services and their sense of duty accomplishes and that this family in its entirety transmits to all the guests of the Hotel Sanctuary, people cannot remain indifferent to the wonderful family that is the staff of the Sanctuary Many thanks to the whole family of the Sanctuary and its director Mr. Iago Cela See you soon Danielle and Raymond Laurent de Laval

  This was AMAZING! Loved it, through the beautiful woods and over frozen lakes to a cosy cabin for delicious warm up with moose stew and fire - loved every minute - 4 hours 😁didn’t get to see northern lights as it was snowing and cloudy skies... but that would just have been a massive bonus.
