Experience a hike through Sweden's winter wonderland on this snowshoe adventure from Stockholm. Just minutes from the busy center, you’ll explore serene, snow-covered forests, spot wildlife tracks, and cross frozen lakes, all surrounded by breathtaking winter landscapes. Along the way, your guide will share insights on the local ecosystem, forest navigation, and bushcraft skills. You'll also learn to start a fire from scratch using a flint, adding an authentic wilderness touch to this memorable trip.

It’s an active excursion so dress accordingly. Footwear should also be appropriate (boots, waterproof sneakers...)

Please remember that the weather conditions are out of our control, and there is no snow guarantee. However last winter (January - March 2024) we only had one excursion without snow!

This is a winter hiking excursion. If the snow level demands the use of snowshoes we will use these. Otherwise we use ice grip cleats under the boots.

After gearing up at our base camp, we'll head out together to one of Stockholm's most beautiful hiking areas (National Park or Nature Reserve - the exact spot depending on snow and weather conditions). Once there, we'll start with a brief tutorial on using snowshoes / ice cleats, and binoculars, as well as forest etiquette. Then, at a comfortable pace, we’ll embark on a hike through enchanting Swedish landscapes. Along the way, your guide will share insights about local flora and fauna, along with bushcrafting and navigation techniques. If the lakes are frozen, we may even cross them under the guide’s supervision. Together, we’ll build and light a campfire, where we'll enjoy a warm and tasty lunch. By the end of the day, we’ll return to our base camp, recharged and uplifted by our time in nature.

We had an amazing experience with our guide, Tigho! He was professional, friendly, and made us feel completely safe on the ice. Although there was no snow, that didn’t take away from the adventure, Tigho took us to Paradisets Naturreservat, where we walked on frozen lakes, enjoyed a delicious lunch by the fire (the soup was fantastic!), and even did some off-trail hiking (my boyfriend had the chance to navigate using a compass and map, which we really enjoyed). Our group was fantastic, and Tigho’s knowledge of wildlife and survival skills made the experience even more special. We can’t wait to join another adventure soon!

Winter hike by a local guide. Friendly, well organised and with a nice lunch and fika. Lots of photo opportunities and ends with a walk across a frozen lake

It’s one of those once in a life time experiences. I really enjoyed the hike, despite being tired. We also walked on two lakes, which was very scary but our guide managed to help all of us and even take pictures and videos while we do so. The soup we had was very delicious as well!

We had a wonderful experience! The guide was very friendly and cared for our safety. Even if there was no snow, we still crossed the frozen lakes and it was worth it. In the noon we also had a delicious fika. Thanks to Green Trials!

I've booked with The Green trails a one day snowshoe hiking around Stockholm, and it was such a great experience! Learning about trees, plants, wild animals living in the Paradise forest. Walking on iced lakes. Thank to Tygo as a great tour guide.

Very scenic hiking tour. Walked on a frozen lake and got a lot of amazing views of the winter landscape. The soup lunch was very good as well. Great full day experience. Highly recommend.

I had such a great experience on this hike! The snow and views was beautiful! The guide was also very helpful and lived locally to the forest so knew the area. I had never done a hike before, and did find it quite challenging due to the cold! Definitely wear waterproof clothing and comfy shoes. But overall - 10/10!

What a great winter hike! I decided to come to Sweden for a winter nature experience and I'm very happy I went with Green Trails. They bring everything you need for a perfect hike in the snow, tasty hot food and pastries, hot chocolate and lots of supplies to keep ourselves warm and have a great outdoor experience in the snowy forest. The hike was beautiful, with breathtaking views, and George was great providing us with lots of information about animals and the nature in Sweden. He definitely knows how to survive in the wild! I had so much fun, and now I treasure some amazing memories. Thanks a lot!

While the weather did not cooperate for snowshoeing, our small group still enjoyed a fantastic day hiking with our guide, Patrick! He took us to a beautiful national park outside Stockholm where we trekked across lesser travelled paths and across a massive frozen lake. We capped off the hike with a welcomed warm fire and hot delicious drinks and food. I loved every part and will definitely be rebooking another trip with Green Trails in the future!
