5.00Our guide Paz made the glacier hike one of the most memorable experiences on our trip to Iceland. I learned a lot while also reveling in the amazing beauty of our surroundings. Paz made sure everyone was safe but we also had a little more adventure and challenge afforded to us since our group was small. The glacier hike was absolutely amazing, I highly recommend doing a tour!

5.00Such an amazing experience! Make sure your hiking boots cover your ankles otherwise you will have to rent due to the spikes tied around your boots. Which was no problem. The staff is fully equipped to make sure your hike is a safe and pleasant experience. We had THE best guide. Thank you to Carla Paz! She was very informative, kind, and energetic! Booked for my sisters birthday, Paz went out of her way to make this excursion memorable! Best experience ever, and that was mostly due to her, and her excellent guide skills. Paz, Gracias por una experiencia maravillosa!

5.00Experience from 10 and praise! Fantastic tour on the tongue of the glacier with Andrea, we were very lucky to be able to go down inside a giant ice cave! Andrea very prepared, allowed us to climb the ice safely despite it being the first experience for us! Thank you so much!

5.00Our family of 4 was overwhelmed by every part of our experience with Icelandic Mountain Guides. When bad weather threatened our reservation they accommodated us on short notice. We were educated and well prepared by our person guide, Geert. He encouraged my daughters to step outside their comfort zone to tackle this new experience with gusto! He was easy to learn from and friendly. His obvious expertise made us not only feel safe in a task we had never done, but showed us we could climb out of a blue ice wall from below. A gorgeous day we won’t forget… tired and happy made for a perfect fit! Thank you!

5.00We had an absolutely amazing experience with Icelandic Mountain Guides at Sólheimajökull Base Camp. This was a 4.5-hour glacier hike and ice climbing tour, and as complete beginners, we couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to something so unique and adventurous. Our group was just the four of us, my wife and I (both in our 40s) and our two teenage daughters, which made the experience feel very personal. Geert, our guide, was outstanding from start to finish. The training was thorough and built up step by step, so by the time we reached the climbs, we felt prepared and confident. He gave helpful feedback after each climb and made sure everyone felt safe and supported throughout. We climbed in three different locations, including an unforgettable descent into a large ice crevasse. The setting itself was breathtaking, a dramatic glacier streaked with volcanic ash that truly felt like exploring another world. There were moments where we had to wait between climbs, but Geert made those just as engaging by sharing fascinating facts about the glacier and stories from past climbs. He struck the perfect balance between being professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun to be around. We noticed other groups on the glacier that were much larger, and it made us even more appreciative of the small-group experience we had. This experience created lasting memories for our family, especially with our teenage daughters, which is not always easy to do. It was worth every krona. If you’re considering this tour, do it and if you can, request Geert. He made an incredible experience even better.

5.00This was such a great experience. The guide, Carla-Paz, was superb; warm, informative, funny and just really nice. The hike was breathtaking and totally manageable for everyone in the small group. My husband, son and i all loved it. I'm pretty fussy about who i did excursions with and I'd recommend Icelandic Mountain Guides 100%.

5.00What an amazing excursion, I really enjoyed it! The structures and crevisses in the glacier were beautifull and I learned so much. We spent 90 - 120 minutes on the glacier itself. Make sure that you're comfortable with hiking a bit, and not too scared of things.

He was a very pleasant guide who took the time to explain everything clearly and calmly, making us feel comfortable throughout the trip. Óskar showed us the most beautiful spots on the glacier and shared interesting insights along the way. It was both educational and breathtaking, highly recommended!
