We went to a planned event in Portsmouth - not the spinnaker and unfortunately a very unprofessional member of staff said something that absolutely devastated my youngest and made him not want Christmas ! I phoned the Spinnaker tower and they were amazing. Said they could fit my son in to see Santa . I explained what had happened and they were just so brilliant to make the day great for him . The views from the tower were fabulous . The elves were all very fun and lovely - especially the one in our cabin who talked to my son about what had happened and was just brilliant with him . Santa was lovely - very realistic and friendly and a lovely grotto and what had been a ruined day was just totally saved by all of the staff at the Spinnaker. Thank you !

The tower is amazing. It was a breezy day when I went. I enjoyed looking at the views, as well as reading all in the info about the tower. I did the walk of faith across the glass floor, but was glad to get back to the side, as I could feel the vibration from the tower moving in the wind, which I was a bit uncomfortable with. I am glad I went up.

The only let down at the top was limited food options. At and around the bottom plenty of food, the bar at the top was stocked with what we wanted. My partner is in a wheelchair and we had no problems here at all. The admission fee seemed fair. Our visit at the top two floors lasted about an hour. Everyone appeared to be there for the views. The time of year meant the crowds were not as busy as other times, but the views were spectacular. The staff were fantastic, well in the top 10% understanding the issues with a wheelchair. In my personal opinion this is best for small groups, a couple like us or up to six people.

Very interesting visit. Picked a good day to go (Wednesday) as there were no queues. The weather was great too so we had some perfect views!

As a local resident, the Spinnaker Tower dominates my skyline every day, yet I rarely find time to visit. I was looking forward to making the trip with my daughter, and our recent visit on Sunday, November 30th, was booked specifically to enjoy the view on what turned out to be a spectacular day. The conditions were perfect: the sky was clear, the sun was shining, and the atmosphere in Portsmouth was electric. The views from the top were simply breathtaking, offering a new perspective on the city I call home. We had the bonus of watching the magnificent HMS Prince of Wales returning to port, which brought the seafront and Gunwharf Quays to life—the area was absolutely heaving with people and the excitement was palpable. We also caught a fantastic view of a helicopter fly-by, making the entire experience feel truly special and memorable. The Tower itself remains an unmatched platform for soaking up the Solent and surrounding coastline. Unfortunately, the experience was significantly marred by the unprofessional behavior of a member of staff named Shane. While I appreciate staff having personality and engaging with customers, this individual seemed intent on pursuing a career in stand-up at the expense of paying guests. Shane's "act" started at the entrance desk where he questioned my daughter’s ID for the resident discount, making an unnecessary joke about her postcode not being included. She was visibly embarrassed, and I felt uncomfortable, worried I had messed up our father/daughter day out by buying the wrong tickets. He eventually stated he was "only joking," but the feeling of awkwardness had already settled. His behavior continued in the lift. Knowing the lift has doors on both sides, he instructed us to "carry straight on through" upon entry. When we did, he made us stop and look foolish as he told us to stay in the lift, leading to confused and shared glances between myself and the other patrons. The final straw came when two women in the lift mentioned their fear of heights. Shane decided this was the perfect moment for another "joke," telling them they had to walk across the glass floor immediately upon exiting the lift. One of the ladies was visibly distressed by this statement, and only after causing genuine anxiety did he reveal he was "only joking." Shane, if you have to explain a joke, it’s not funny, and when the humor is based on making paying customers feel ridiculed, embarrassed, or upset, it is poor customer service. I am all for engaging staff, but this kind of interaction detracts significantly from what should be a premium experience. In the words of Frank Carson, Shane... maybe it's the way you tell 'em. The views and the Tower itself are five stars, but the experience was dragged down severely by the part time 'comedian'.
