History doesn't have to be boring! This private tour of Split's Diocletian's Palace is suitable for all ages. Short and compact, but still exciting!
In this guided walking tour we will start from the Riva and walk through the basements of the palace. Then we will discover the main sights of the palace. You will learn how the palace of Emperor Diocletian became a city and how his mausoleum became a cathedral. The former Temple of Jupiter, now a Christian chapel, and the Vestibule are also highlights that we will discover together. We will walk along the former main Roman streets Cardo and Decumanus and visit the city gates, including the Golden Gate.
Hear many interesting anecdotes and stories about the city, its famous personalities and its inhabitants. Discover Split in a relaxed atmosphere and at your own pace. We speak fluent English, French, German and Croatian.

We start our tour at the Riva, the promenade of Split. Tourists and locals enjoy the sun here in one of the numerous cafes and restaurants. It's "see and be seen" here.
Diocletian's Palace was built and inhabited by the eponymous Roman Emperor Diocletian over 1700 years ago. Today the palace is not a museum in the classical sense. Inside the palace walls there are houses and stores and there is a bustle of activity.

5.00Amazing. From the initial communication of the reservation to the very end, our guide, Dana, was exceptional. She was prompt, so kind and highly informative. She navigated around the crowds and was 100% present with us. Throughout our time she kept a pace to see the highlights with being flexible to our questions and interests. At the end she asked how she could help with the remainder of our stay. She gave restaurant suggestions and even provided us connections for a rental car that worked perfectly. 5.00Great city tour – informative, entertaining and with many exciting stories. Dinah was super friendly and led the tour with a lot of expertise and made the city come alive. We learned exciting historical facts, discovered hidden corners and got many tips for further activities. Highly recommended!

5.00Dana was our guide for our private tour of the Palace, and it was just an absolute pleasure to spend that time with her. Her knowledge of the history of the Palace and Split was excellent, but she just brought it all to life so well, and made it so interesting for us, and it did truly feel like you were being taken round by a friend as another reviewer has said, her enthusiasm was contagious and she is just so easy to get on with. There was no mistaking how much Dinah loves to do your tours and with how much passion. Everywhere there was something to discover and learn and Dinah could answer any of our inquisitive questions. She was very knowledgeable, we were able to go at our own pace and ask questions, she gave wonderful recommendations for things to do not just in Split but in other areas of Croatia. There is so much history in the palace - a guide is necessary to make sure you understand what you’re seeing. It is worth it and Dana was great!

5.00Our wonderful private tour guide Dana made Diocletian's Palace in Split come alive for us. We were a group of 8, including 4 teenaged boys. Dana managed to keep us all engaged with interesting stories about the lives of the people who lived in the palace over the years. After the tour, she gave us orientation of different kinds of food available in Split, and the best places for local foods like Borek, Cevapi and of course gelato! I highly recommend Dana!
