  Before we boarded the Havila ship in Kirkenes, we wanted to "arrive" in Norway for the first time and get to know some of the land. 2 adults and 2 teenagers - it is not easy to find appealing program for both generations. KIRKENES TOURS, however, ABSOLUTELY made it and FAR EXCEEDED our expectations. True to the motto "who knows if we will ever come back here" we booked 2 days full program with Kirkenes tour, and we absolutely recommend it! On board the Havila we met some people who also boarded in Kirkenes but spent a maximum of one day there. They all thought Kirkenes and the area had much more to offer, and they should have arrived at least 1-2 days before. Here is our program that we - and our teenagers - would absolutely recommend and do again immediately: Day 1 morning: Spy Games - City exploration and Russian border in minivan, completing guided tour in Andersgrotten. Day 1 evening: Northern Lights tour in a minivan - with picnic and fire place and glögg/cocoa in the snow. Day 2 morning: Snowshoe hike to a refuge with fantastic views over the fjord, spot animal tracks, barbecue sausages by the fireplace. (actually we planned a fat bike tour. Henrick, the guide, however, drove the route specially because of the many fresh snow the day before and had the alternative ready immediately!) Day 2 afternoon: The visit of the family of Maiken and Kimmo and their reindeer was sooo nice: a beautiful fire place in the middle of the forest and snow, hot Glögg and interesting explanations about reindeer breeding and something about Samis, feeding and petting reindeer and then even a walk in a sled. Afterwards, continue to estates of Namdalen: Ride with snowmobile & sled over a frozen lake under the starry sky, barbecue at the fire place with northern lights, sauna !!! with cooling in the snow and then exhausted and happy again a soaucold but indescribably beautiful ride back over the lake and in a minivan to Kirkenes. This program was our best choice ever. To this day we think the best thing about the trip to Norway was the two days in Kirkenes, with Henrik and Laura. Logistics: Any material for the excursions can be provided by Kirkenes Tours. Even the snow suits!
