Pidurangala Rock
Pidurangala is a massive rock formation located a few kilometers north of Sigiriya in Sri Lanka. It has an interesting history closely related to that of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Being less grand and far more difficult to climb it is often overlooked by tourists. Like Sigiriya, Pidurangala was formed by volcanic activity. Whilst Pidurangala appears larger than Sigiriya; its upper surface is steeply sloped and is of solid rock. For this reason, it was not suitable for large-scale building activity. The rocky outcrops that surround the central rock give one an indication of what the area around Sigiriya may have looked like before its clearing and preparation as a royal citadel.

Our tour guide Dhanuka picked us up at the airport at 1:30 am and took us to a very decent hotel. We were so worried that we might have to sleep at the airport but the tour guide was so caring, he was waiting for us after we passed the secure checkout, and also found a hotel that allow early check in. And his wife woke up at 5 am that morning to prepare very delicious breakfast for us. The whole trip he did a wonderful job. The sites we visited were well schedule and the hotels were very good. His knowledge about the country were superb. We had a very good time and is a tour to remember for life time.
