Step aboard the first scenic railway tour in the Caribbean! You will be taken on a 3-hour tour along the 30-mile (48 km) rail circuit on the Eastern Caribbean island of St. Kitts. The luxurious railcar features an open-air observation deck on the upper level, with air-conditioned comfort and expansive vaulted windows on the lower level. While you ride, listen to a narration of the history of the Caribbean, and conclude the train ride with a 12-mile (19 km) sightseeing bus tour of St. Kitts’ attractions and landmarks.

St. Kitts Scenic Railway
Your luxurious railcar features a service bar, restroom and colorful artwork on the walls. The upper level has an open-air observation deck with breathtaking views of the majestic mountain ranges and lush sugar cane fields, and the lower level offers air-conditioned comfort and expansive vaulted windows. Take advantage of the complimentary specialty drinks served throughout the trip. See fields of sugar canes surrounding the railcar as the railway winds around the slopes of the remnant volcano Mt. Liamuiga. Discover the hidden black sand beach and overgrown plantation estates, and cross steel bridges, including one stretching 300 feet (90 meters) across a deep ravine. You will also pass many villages including the Mansion Village and Saddlers Village, surrounded by fields producing a range of fruit. The colorful narration of the history of Caribbean and St. Kitts includes tales of the “Last Railway in the West Indies,” which was used to transport sugar cane from the island’s sugar plantations to the sugar factory in Basseterre, St. Kitts capital city. You will also be entertained with folk songs and hymns by the St. Kitts Railway Choir. At the end of your train ride, transfer to a sightseeing bus to continue your 12-mile (19 km) journey along Island Main Road. The route passes under Brimstone Hill Fortress and through small villages and towns before returning to Basseterre. Please note: there is no reserved seating. Eh, beautiful Island but not worth the $$$

3.00This was offered as an excursion on Celebrity Apex cruise. The island was beautiful, but the actual trip is rough. VERY ROCKY! I was expecting a smooth and scenic tour, but the shuttle driver to get to train explained that the rails were originally designed for sugar transport, not passengers. Thus not comfortable. Pretty Island but not worth the price...also VERY LONG. Train ride itself was 2 hours, plus about an hour total on the shuttle.

5.00Excellent narration , especially kudos to Nelvira in bus #6 who stopped and shared so much we enjoyed. She sang the national anthem, Amazing Grace beautifully. She was full of laughter and joy and represented St.kitts beautifully. The train ride was interesting, the complimentary libations good, dancers good.

5.00Great tour from the bus driver kirk with his funny friendly chat on the way to the train to all the staff on the train making it a pleasant tour yes it's rickety but adds to the fun and with lots of rum flowing it's not a bad way to spend the morning the lady giving the tour was very informative about the history of this great island id defo recommend this tour and the cranks who left negative reviews are probably best sticking with disney or sum other mainstream holiday destination as u can clearly see this is and old train infrastructure

2.00My daughter sometimes gets sick on boats, so we avoided any type of boating activities on our trip. The train was extremely shaky and bumpy, and she immediately felt sick, so the rest of the tour lost its shine for all of us. There’s an upper (open) level and a lower level with windows, but the windows were not clear enough to take nice pictures. There were traditional dancers, who did a great job and were fun to watch, plus rum punch and a sugarcane cookie. It was hard to hear the tour guide through the speakers, so we would have gotten more from a person narrating on each car, or an upgrade to the PA system. Beautiful scenery, but not for the weak of stomach!

3.00The train car we were in was extremely cold! They had the air conditioner cranked way up. We were not able to enjoy the ride because of it. If you go take a heavy sweater.

2.00First off, the seating arrangement is bench style facing sideways, not forward. Bad news is that during the entire ride, each train car rocks left and right rather violently; especially the 2nd to last car. If you go, you'll want to sit on the right side bench as you look toward the engine. This gives you views of the ocean versus the left side bench which gives you views of tall grasses and hillside. They train is packed to the hilt with passengers and you can't move once your are seated...shoulder to shoulder. It becomes a contest to see which tourist is going to hurl once the rum gets served with all the swaying motion. During the ride 2 "dancers" come through each car and do hip hop dancing to the music on a portable boom box. Watch your feet during the dance, as they get stepped on because of the rocking motion of the car.

5.00Our cruise line was unable to dock in St Kitts this morning due to high winds.. the company refunded us in full even though I missed the excursion. A fantastic gesture of goodwill. Please use this company-agent when travelling to St Kitts..

5.00LOVED IT!! Bus portion was very informative with our host Shaun. He taught me things I should have known as an American. Got me interested in the island's history quite a bit more. Research will be done. The train cars were non-stop rocking back & forth yet it added to the fun!!! Train doesn't move fast and the ride is not rough in the normal sense of the word. The Hostess was VERRRY informative as we passed historical sites. Their are two hostesses per car and they are the most physically well-balanced people I have ever seen. Mixing & serving drinks with nary an error that I noticed. There are restrooms facilities on the train so relax there! Very nice way to pass some time and learn a little about this beautiful Country, a little of it's history and enjoy stunning scenery all the while. THANK YOU SHAUN, hostesses of Train Car four and the guide!!! Very fun and memorable. Marilynn (NE Oklahoma, USA)
