  We decided to book a private tour in Sint Maarten to move at our own pace and skip unnecessary shopping stops—and overall, it was a great decision. The directions from the cruise pier to the meeting point were excellent. It was just a few minutes’ walk from the ship and very easy to find. Our driver was friendly and accommodating, taking us to all the places we wanted to see. The only small downside was that she didn’t introduce herself, so unfortunately we didn’t catch her name. Although the booking mentioned complimentary drinks (soft drinks, beer, and water), these weren’t offered initially—we had to ask for them later on. Our final requested stop was Maho Beach, and we were hoping to stay a bit longer (until around 2:00–2:30 PM). However, we were told we had to be back in Philipsburg by 2:00 PM to finish the tour. That was a bit disappointing, especially since it was a private tour and we would have gladly paid extra for more time—particularly as the beach wasn’t crowded that day. Despite that, we would still recommend Pelican Tours, especially for first-time visitors to Sint Maarten

  We had a good day and enjoyed some beautiful look out points and scenery. Our review would have been 5 stars had it not been for the very small, uncomfortable, Hyundai we were picked up in. While at the pickup point we were watching all these tours leave in nice vans and SUV’s and then our tour guide shows up in a compact Hyundai. She was also on her phone talking a lot during the tour.

  We had a fabulous day visiting both sides of the island. Loved the Moses Walk. Shopping in St Martin. Then lunch and plane watching at Maho Beach. We had time to shop, stroll and relax along the way!

• Nice guy, but the "private tour" experience needs work

  My wife and I booked this expecting a polished private tour experience, and while we had a decent time, there were a few things that fell short. The start was chaotic. Three cruise ships were in port, so the area was packed. When we arrived at the pickup location, we were told to wait. About 20 minutes later we were paired with our driver, who turned out to be fairly new to giving tours (about three months in). He was a genuinely nice person, but we could tell he was still finding his footing. We ended up having to drive the conversation ourselves, asking what things were rather than having him guide us through the sights. We did cover a lot of ground and saw plenty of the island, which was great. My wife and I always make the best of every situation, and we still enjoyed ourselves overall. Two things the company could improve: first, for the price of a private tour, the vehicle should be better. The AC could not keep up with the heat, especially in the back seat. Second, pairing paying customers with a brand-new guide without mentioning that upfront felt like a miss. Our driver was kind, and we appreciated his effort. With more experience, he'll get there. But the overall package didn't match what you'd expect when you book "private tour."

  Richard was a great guide and showed us all over the island! He stopped and multiple sites and took pictures. We also had fun feeding the iguanas! Highly recommend this tour!

  Provided a good overview of the island and the sights to see. The driver/guide (Richard) was excellent and there were plenty of refreshments to keep us hydrated. My one recommendation would be for Pelican to remove/resituate the company decals from the back windows of the vans. When seated in the back, you could not see out very well because of these decals....which is not what you want on an island tour.

  The tour guide was informative and very knowledgeable about the islands history. She provided us with many details about both sides of the island. We had a chance to see many different places and had a delicious lunch. We also had time to shop.

  Wonderful Island tour with Ursula. I would use them again. We got to see most of the island and some shopping. Great BBQ lunch.

  Great private tour. Very informative a comfortable. Alex was a great driver and very kind. Really took effort to make sure we had a good experience.
