The festival village is the epicenter of everything that occurs for Carnival. Being one of the first purposely built carnival venues in the region, The St. Maarten Festival Village’s uniqueness is like nothing else in the Caribbean. Similarly, to an old county fair, it is a large open square shaped venue, equipped with various booths, bars and stage for performances. There, locals sell delicacies and all enjoy evening concerts promoting soca and calypso bands. Indulge your taste buds, in the multi cultured kitchens as you enjoy a local lunch at one of our favorite booths, taking in the savory smells from the grills and typical Caribbean design.

Thereafter, on to Orient Beach on French St. Maarten, delivering a pristine crystallized ocean with white sands and spectacular views. 3.00The annual Carnival celebration in Sint Maarten in April was the reason I went there. I enjoyed the parades; everyone dancing and cheering. The most remarkable part was that women in the groups were almost half naked, which is common in Caribbean region in Carnival parades. It would've been nice if focus was more on dancing performance than showing that much skin, and also a pity that the (after) parties were all paid and quite expensive as well at the Carnival Village. So if you wanted to party after the Carnival parades, there was no free option and then you just go home if you don't want to pay or go to another dancing place like Nowhere Special and Lagoonies Bistro & Bar which have free entrance.
