The privately-owned Anderson Mound has been lovingly preserved by members of the Anderson family for over 80 years.

The Jungle Prada Site is the best-preserved American Indian site in Tampa Bay. The highlight of our 75-minute guided Florida history tour is a huge Tocobaga Indian midden mound and adjoining village plaza. Hidden away in the historic neighborhood known as Jungle Prada, the main mound consists of tens of thousands of ancient conch and whelk shells, and is more than 900 feet long! The subtropical jungle landscape here is populated by dozens of beautiful free-roaming peacocks! The tour and the locations are loaded with Florida history that is explained in a vibrant and engaging way. In addition to learning about the lives of the Tocobaga Indians, you'll also encounter the amazing story of Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca, a Spanish conquistador who landed at the Jungle Prada with the 1528 Narvaez Expedition, and whose incredible journey of survival took him and three others from Florida all the way to the Pacific Ocean (1528 - 1536). If you are a Florida resident or a visitor interested in history and archaeology, the Jungle Prada Site Tour is a rewarding experience that will engage your mind and challenge your perceptions about the Sunshine State!

One of the best kept secrets in Pinellas County, Jungle Prada. Adjacent to the historical Pasadena neighborhood. David gives a narrative of his family's coastal property rich in history, culture and flora. Three generations of family dedication ensuring preservation of "Old Florida”. Details about how Treasure Island and Johns Pass were formed by hurricanes and hard work of local community members preserving the beauty of Boca Ciega. Rich in history of Native American and Spanish exploration. A must see before you hit the beach!! Done

This tour of a historically and achaelogically significant site in St. Petersburg, on the waterfront, is well-worth the cost and time. David, the grandson of the owner of this private property, is so knowledgeable about the history, archeology, and botany, he blew me away! As a long-time resident of St. Petersburg, I didn't think there was much left that was untouched by development. This Tour proved me wrong!

This was one of the most interesting and informative tours we have ever been to. David was like a walking encyclopedia. He knew his material inside and out and also knew so much of the history of Florida. I was surprised to know that there were inhabitants here as early as the 1400's.

6th grade SS teacher from TX. I visited the Tocobaga Indian Mound in Philippe Park, read about the Safety Harbor museum, and was recommended this tour there. What a string of luck. Upon arrival, I had to call for help finding the location and David (tour guide) promptly answered and assisted. A total professional who's done this thousands of times, he seamlessly traversed the tightrope of responding to questions, navigating nature, and providing an educational experience. The tour is amazing because he is. This is his family's land, they've worked it and connected to it for three generations. As someone fascinated by pre-Colombian cultures, I really appreciate this Jungle Prada tour, and the hidden niche the Anderson family have been showcasing and safeguarding since the 40's. David's clear interest in the indigenous history, the details of Spanish conquest, and his family's place in protecting their "archaeologically pristine" site makes this tour a richly woven tapestry. Oh, to be a fourth grader fortunate enough to visit here (I bet he's amazing with them)... it should honestly be mandatory in Hillsborough, Pinellas & Manatee Co. Thank you David, for continuing your family's legacy, being a steward of the land, protecting indigenous history and being a great human. You're one in a million. Blessings 🙌 🦚 🐚
