  Impressive and entertaining drive across the island. Pick up cruise guests in a white tent directly in the port area and transfer to the departure station. However, take into account waiting time until departure, especially if several cruise ships are in port. Waiting facility with some seating in the shade.

  Tour was cancelled 1 day before. Explanation: Operator could not carry out the train journey, reasons unclear. Other guests who had booked through our ship could do the tour! Probably overbooked! Extremely disappointing, Viator only sends half-baked disappointment! Be careful!!!!

• Not Very Scenic.

  Simply put. The scenic tour was not very scenic. I would not recommend it to anyone.

  Tour starts with an hour long bus ride to the train. Make sure your driver knows what language you speak or you might get a one hour recorded tour in German like we did.

  The people of St. Kitts have enthusiastically bought into the fact the tourism is their only export. Everyone is super friendly. The train trip is a great way to see the island. You have the option of sitting inside in air-conditioned comfort or up-top in the open air (I sat up-top. The tour includes onboard complimentary beverages. Several dancers, in native costumes, board each car and share local dances. The commentary is excellent. This is a narrow-guage railway. The train cars sway a lot. Transportation to and from the train is comfortable and affords insights to the locals and how they live. There are three monkeys on St. Kitts for every human being. They stay pretty much up in the high country. We only saw one or too. However, beware of a man with two monkeys who wants you take pictures with them. He wants $20 and is overly aggressive. He was at the end of the train ride. We declined his offer. He appeared at the port and put the monkeys on me, grabbed my camera and took several pics. I refused to pay for them. My travel companion gave him $5. Unless you think the pics are worth $20, steer clear of him. Over all, I would rate this as an exceptional tour.

  First problem is to identify where to catch the bus in the melee of the cruise port. Worth getting there a few minutes early to work this out, but the guides at the information desk are helpful. You will be accosted by countless guides trying to sell you various trips. When you find the bus you will be driven to one end or the other of the line, with the driver explaining what sights you are passing. When you arrive at the terminus, everyone gets on the top deck for the view. The train is quaint and narrow gauge, and the actual train ride is about 90 mins liberally lubricated by complimentary rum-based drinks if you wish. A bus will then take you back to the starting point. Total 3 hours. Good time had by all. It may sound a bit pricy, but maintaining a narrow gauge railway is not cheap, and it is a unique experience.

  

  

• Horrible Scheduling/Calendar

  We booked the tour online through Tripadvisor. Don't know who isn't keeping up with the schedule, but they allowed us to book and then canceled the day of the trip because "it's the off season". We found out they know what days they are going to run the trip (about once a week) but no one blocked out the other dates before we booked. We could have gone two days earlier, but didn't know. The next trip was after we left, so both of our scheduled tours were canceled and we were unable to book new ones.

  The hunt was a great way to prove teamwork and critical thinking skills. It was awesome seeing that it was in the boundaries of the town and we didn’t had to go too far. Definitely recommend if in the city!

  Great Way to Explore Basseterre! I really enjoyed the Downtown Basseterre Scavenger Hunt Race It was a fun and exciting way to see Basseterre. The clues were interesting, and the race made it even more exciting. We got to learn about the history and explore different spots while playing as a team. It's great for families, couples, or friends. I would definitely recommend it if you want to do something fun and different in St. Kitts!
