This is a heritage tour, with the elements of a dark tour, which tells the story of World War II in Split. It is developed with storytelling method, which allows guests to get a better sense of the atmosphere.
You'll find out what caused of the War in this area, who were the oppressors, whose side were the citizens on and what ultimately led to the end of the War. Great emphasis is placed on the human aspect of war, while standing true to historical facts. You'll learn how the War affected the lives of ordinary people by hearing stories about fights, resistance, sacrifices and losses. In addition, you'll see where the bomb shelters were, who were the hidden heroes, what happened with the Jewish community that has been active in Split for centuries. During the tour, photographs of buildings that were damaged or destroyed will be provided. The photographs are the property of the Museum of the City of Split and are kept in the archives; but for this tour I have exclusive rights to use.

5.00Ina is a wonderful story teller and historian. I loved learning about the Croatian experience during WW2. She also updated history to the 90s wars. I particularly loved learning about Jewish history.

5.00This is a fabulous tour by Ina and covers a history in Croatia which is different than other WW II narratives. Many stories of the experiences of local people and the locations where incidents occurred. Well organized and Ina is able to cover other facets of Croatian history. I highly recommend.

5.00This is a great tour for any history buff. My 16 year old son and I loved it! Our guide was amazingly knowledgeable and presented information not found in history books or the internet. I especially loved the photos from WWII and comparing them to how the town is today. She also presented information from ancient times. I wish she would write a book!!!

5.00Punctual. Clear communication. Very educational. Good solid 2 hours of informative history. Plenty to mull over. On the day we were a much smaller group than the more conventional tours.

5.00If you’re looking to learn of the World War II history in Split, Croatia, I highly recommend doing this tour with Ina! I consider myself a WWII buff and I learned a ton during the 2-hour tour. We did a private 2-person tour and she encouraged us to ask as many questions as we wanted. Ina is a great guide/storyteller and her passion for the subject in her hometown of Split made the tour very enjoyable. Highly recommend!
