Join us on a food extravaganza where we will sample a wide variety of our favorite street foods in the locals spots of downtown Athens.
We will meet in Monastiraki and then take a short stroll around the market area and the social life area (Psiri) stopping regularly for tastings and sit down meals of our most loved street foods, all in places frequented by the local community.
We will visit one of the best souvlaki houses and sample their delicous pork or chicken skewers , eat a gyros, sample traditional pies, visit a deli for cured meat and cheeses, Greek coffee or Freddo, calamari and more washed down with Greek licquers such as raki and ouzo or fresh orange juice. Come hungry and ready to eat. Of course we will eat some of our favorite sweets as the Greeks love desert!
Unfortunately this experience is not suitable for gluten free or vegetarian diets but our traditionl food tour is able to accomodate all dietry requirements.

Of course we will eat some of our favorite sweets, loukoumades and ice cream as the Greeks love desert! Unfortunately this experience is not suitable for gluten free, vegetarian or vegan diets but our traditional food tour is able to accomodate all dietry requirements.

5.00Outstanding experience! This tour introduces a visitor to a typically overlooked neighborhood in Athens, with local markets, shops, and restaurants. The hosts are knowledgeable, entertaining and welcoming to everyone. I enjoyed this food tour immensely and ended up going back to some of the same places again while I was still in Athens.

5.00Arela was a fantastic guide. Warm and generous with her time and energy and enthusiastic about her beautiful home city and the Greek culture and food. We ate so much delicious food and learnt many interesting things. Would definitely recommend this tour.

5.00If you are questioning if you should do this, don’t! This was an amazing way to start our trip! Great way to see the neighborhood and taste different dishes. The honey and oil tasting was fantastic!

5.00This is such a great way to see the market and other shops that locals go to lead by a local guide. We were able to try so many fantastic foods we wouldn’t have thought to order on our own, and go to amazing shops we wouldn’t have known to try. Highly recommend!

5.00Literally all of it was great. Firstly, Rachel reached out to us to upgrade to their 3.5 hour tour so that we could be in a group with another couple that same morning, which was really amazing of them. Arela, our guide, was friendly and taught us so much. She took us to multiple olive oil, olive, and honey tastings in addition to multiple food stops. Everywhere we went were local/ family owned type shops. Arela didn't just expose us to food but also to culture. There were a few great interactions in the markets that resulted in many laughs and she translated the interactions for us so we could all join in the levity. Then towards the end of the tour she answered any questions we had, including anything from good coffee to the metro. It was truly a fabulous experience that checked all the boxes and I will forever look at olive oil and honey differently.

5.00Wow this is a MUST DO!! I’d recommend doing this at the beginning of your trip. Our guide, Arila, was ABSOLUTELY LOVELY! So friendly and fun and had AMAZING recommendations. We did this tour on our last day and I had the most delicious spanakopita which I would’ve gone to get every single day afterward if not for leaving Athens several hours later. Arila had great recommendations, taught us how exactly to sample olive oil, what to look out for when looking for places to eat at, and other suggestions. I STRONGLY recommend you do this tour. Also as other reviewers say, don’t eat beforehand because she will make sure you eat plenty!

5.00What a fun day with Rachel! Tasted so many amazing Greek foods filled with tradition, learned so much about the origins of their food customs, and in general, some history about the markets of Athens. Rachel and all the merchants she took us to could not have been more welcoming and generous.
