We were honoured today to visit what was once the lively chatter of daily life in Vietnam, is now a whisper and soon sadly may become a distant echo. For us, this was, after 15 years of travel with great, good and pretty poor tours, a true experience. It is not often you have the chance to spend time with the last, while at the same time seeing some of what the future of what a community may become. I suggested you book is tour if you want to see no tourists, no flashy light and no technology. Watching noodles being made by hand before dawn. The fishermen bringing in and selling their catch and soy sauce being made. Then off to watch the bed mat being woven and a game of Vietnamese roulette with traditional rice wine. In between we visited the lotus fields booming, cashews growing, men crafting a boat from a single tree all while crops dried on the side of the road. Oh and a great real local breakfast, not a westernised version. Maybe I am getting old but I cannot help but feel honoured to have spent some time with a Vietnam untouched by invasion or war or time for that matter. With people accepting their role in life and honouring whichever Deity maybe real. You may just have a great time! Either way it’s the best tour I have done in my 63 years.

My family and I vacationed through Vietnam and Ha’s tour was the best one we did. This tour was an intimate look into the local’s day-to-day lives and Ha took great care into respecting the Hoi An culture. They only do 1 tour a day so the experience felt very personal and not “just another tour”. I’ll be recommending this tour to everyone I know that visits Hoi An. Thank you Ha & team for an incredible experience!

This was truly the most unique tour I have ever been on. Ha intentionally curated a tour that celebrated the lesser known gems of Hoi An. We biked through the town and saw the most beautiful scenery. We tried rice wines, observed the process for making Hoi An's most popular ingredients, and attempted weaving. My favorite was visiting the local noodle makers, which highlights a family's incredible work ethic while making one reflect on how fast the world is changing. I don't know how else I could have learned about Hoi An's culture and people in a more authentic way. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to celebrate a rich culture of kind people.

This experience is definitely worth the early start time. You will learn so much about how local food is made and see the authentic side of Hoi An.

This put simply was one of the best guided tours i’ve ever done. After getting into Hoi An the night before, and realising that the main part of the city was full of tourist traps and very crowded, the sunrise tour with Ha showed us another side, the real Hoi An, with real people continuing the crafts that their families had practiced for generations. It was absolutely worth the 4am wake up to see this and meet these families. Ha was extremely knowledgable, funny and made everyone in the group feel included and was interested in why we were here. Being transporter on bikes between each location as the sun rose early in the morning was spectacular, and that was literally just getting between the places we visited. Ha is doing something very special with this tour and I couldn't recommend it more highly.

This was easily one of the most memorable experiences we had in Hoi An. Ha is funny, warm, and exceptionally knowledgeable, but what makes this tour stand out is how much he genuinely cares about preserving the stories behind the city’s disappearing trades and traditional ways of life. He gave real historical context to the places and people we met, and made you appreciate how much hard work shaped this community. The early start may seem unusual, but it gives the whole experience a different rhythm and makes it feel even more authentic. Between the home visits, off-the-beaten-path food, and constant laughter, this felt far more meaningful than a typical tour.

I can’t recommend Ha and the Early Riser tour enough! The 4am wake up was so worth it for the unique and eye opening experiences - not only do you get to witness truly authentic and rarefied artisans practicing their craft, but you get to watch Hoi An wake up under the pink sunrise on the back of a scooter before any tourists wake up! Ha kept us laughing and had amazing recs for other parts of our trip. He truly cares about documenting and sharing the arts and traditions of his community and we are so lucky to be a part of his mission to share this legacy with the world.

Was a great ride through the life of the local people of the region. We were able to visit the last family who make Cao Lau noodles in the region which was a great experience as not available outside of Hoi an. Travelling through the local streets on a scooter was a beautiful experience and meeting the families who make local fish sauce, mat weaving and rice wine was lovely. Ha was also a fantastic tour guide with great knowledge and humour. Highly recommend.

It was the most amazing tour we’ve ever had, the perfect motivation to wake up at 4am and start our early morning adventure! We visited the last family still cooking cao lau noodles in the traditional way, just like years ago. Then we stopped to see how fish sauce is prepared. I absolutely loved it and would happily export it to Poland 😍 I could write much more, but it’s best to come and discover the secrets of Hoi An for yourself! None of this would have been so special without our outstanding, highly knowledgeable, and funny tour guide. He runs an inspiring project dedicated to preserving traditional professions before they disappear, and we’re happy we could contribute our small brick to it. Highly recommended! I hope next time we can join another tour in Hoi An! 😍🙏✨

A privileged insight into the last ancestors who have kept the traditions alive. We saw the dedication and artisan craft of Cao Lau noodle making, fish sauce (not so fishy), sleeping mat weaving, rice wine makers. The trip was experiential with all senses livened. With our private motorbike guide we rode through the sleepy streets, rice fields and townships that added so much context to Hoi An. Our tour guide Ha Ngyuen is exemplary with his knowledge, love and respect for his culture and ancestry. The conversations are the kinds that you can sit around for hours and share. His philanthropy is an extension of his ancestors. It was a privilege to share in this experience. We helped with part of the Cao Lau noodle processing, and also had a blind test with the rice wine - and its medicinal properties. A highlight experience in Hoi An! If you are reading this before you go, book in! Many people make the mistake in thinking it’s a big tour. It’s not. It runs only once a day and limited to 6 people. There was no one else after us. No one else before us. It’s exclusive. Book in as early as you can to avoid disappointment!
