  Our guide was very knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the history, culture and everyday life in Indonesia. Our guide showed us local plants and spices and shared how he uses those in cooking for his family. We highly recommend this tour.

  Our guide was superior. Communicated beforehand via WhatsApp to show us his face and confirm our meeting point. All the stops were very interesting and the lunch was big and delicious. So happy we booked this tour.

  I was with my sister and brother in law and our tour leader was Nita. She gave us a brilliant day out from our cruise ship. We visited a spice market, a mosque, and two Chinese temples. We travelled in a bicycle rickshaw and released a tiny finch into the sky over the sea. Nita answered our questions but didn’t flood us with information. Altogether it was a most memorable day.

  Very local. Something you could not do by yourself. It provided insight into how people live and work. The tour guide was excellent and added her own personal experiences. I highly recommend this tour if you want to know what it is like to be here rather than just see the sights.

  We enjoyed learning about this city, its history of colonial control and efforts moving into a more modern center of society. There are elements of new architecture and investment by other governments. The people are friendly, welcoming and very proud of their culture. There are monuments honoring those who fought the Communist insurgency in the not too distant past and a goal of not letting such a thing occur again. Take the opportunity to visit this city if you can. The cruise industry is helping facilitate the growth of tourism which is a positive thing.

  We had a very good experience on this Surabaya shore excursion. Although Surabaya is not a typical tourist destination, the tour was interesting and well organized. Communication from the tour company was excellent, with a smooth and seamless pickup right at the cruise port. Our guide, Chita, spoke very good English and gave a great overview of the city’s history and everyday life. Highlights included an exciting tuk-tuk ride, visiting a Chinese temple, watching a traditional puppet show, and exploring a wholesale spice and vegetable market. The tour also included a nice lunch at a good restaurant.   Trip was easy to arrange with good communication, on arrival at the port the tour guides were easy to find. Tour itself was very good with lots of interesting facts and information from our guide Betha who was excellent throughout the tour. We stopped for lunch of traditional Indonesian food which was delicious but far too much for our party of 6. We were delivered back to the ship in plenty of time. Thank you Betha & our driver Krista (sorry if names aren’t spelled correctly!)

  Very knowledgeable guide with a great sense of humour. She spoke excellent English. Meeting-up with the guide was no problem, and she got us back to the ship on time.
