Tico's is a family-run business with more than 17 years of experience and a lot of passion for what we do. We care a lot about your safety, so all of your instructors are also certified lifeguards. Book your surf lessons with us, whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or advanced; we guarantee fun and safety at all levels – and all ages. We love teaching families and young kids as much as adults and friend groups.

We offer private, semi-private and group lessons for different prices. If you come alone and would like to participate in a group lesson, we can try to match you with fellow solo travelers.

After your lesson, you will be able to lend a surfboard to practice on your own for free and you are always welcome to come back should you have any questions about surfing or the area. We are also happy to provide you with tips for any other tours in and around Sámara.

All your classes last 1 hour to 90 minutes depending on conditions and customer, and you will be able to practice on your own with your board afterwards or later! All lessons begin with a briefing (according to the student's level) on position, safety, and surfboard handling. The instructor then selects the board, and once ready, the adventure of the surfing lesson in the ocean begins. We are also happy to provide you with high class pictures of your experience. Due to changing tides, weather, and conditions, we do not follow a fixed schedule at Tico’s Surf School, but instead offer individual appointments. Please note that this ticket serves only to ensure your booking and get in touch with us a few days prior to your booking to find the perfect time slot depending on tide and experience level. We cannot guarantee a surf lesson if you simply show up with a ticket!

Our two teenagers got a great lesson by Javier. They had a lot of fun and got a nice experience when trying surfing for the first time.

Best surf school!! We have surfed with them three times now and each time is amazing! They really help you get the skills to be able to do it on your own. And they have lots of tips and tricks to help even the nervous surfers ride the waves! We had one surfer with us that was having trouble and our instructor worked to help them, by the end they were surfing like a little pro. Would highly recommend! Our instructor, Javier, was amazing! Each instructor we have had really gets to know you and help make it a fun and relaxing, confidence-building experience.

Perfect first beginner surfing. Professional from start to finish with skilled instructors who managed to get us all (group of 3 families) to stand stable on the board. Good equipment. Can really recommend.

We had a great time and couldn't have asked for a better place to learn to surf. The waves are perfect, especially for beginners, and the whole organization was top. The equipment is high quality and the atmosphere super relaxed and warm. A very special thank you goes to our surf instructor Lisa 🌊🏄‍♀️ Lisa is incredibly patient, motivating and explains everything super understandable. The fact that she speaks German was the absolute ultimate for us – so we could understand everything perfectly and concentrate fully on surfing. Even as beginners we felt safe and well looked after at all times. With her positive nature and her passion for surfing she really impressed us. Another highlight: Right next door there is a very nice restaurant, perfect for relaxing after the session. You can also borrow a surfboard for 2 hours free of charge after the lesson to continue practicing yourself – just awesome! If you are looking for professional surf lessons, perfect conditions and real surf vibes, Ticos Surf School is the place for you. We will definitely be back!

Emerson was a great surf instructor. My whole family had a great time. We did 2 days of lessons and learned a lot, they had us surfing in just a few minutes.

Booking our lessons was incredibly easy and quick via WhatsApp, which was a huge plus while traveling with kids. We arrived the morning of our lesson and met Lissa, our instructor, who was absolutely wonderful. Rash guards and surfboards were provided, and everything felt very well organized and relaxed. Lissa showed exceptional patience with my two 7-year-olds. She was calm, encouraging, and genuinely great with kids. Amazingly, she got both girls standing up on the board on their very first try! We did two days of lessons, and the girls’ confidence grew so much in that time. The high-definition photos are my favorite souvenir from the trip—capturing their huge smiles and pride perfectly. The girls absolutely loved the experience and were so proud of themselves afterward. If you’re traveling to Sámara with kids and considering surf lessons, I can’t recommend Tico’s Surf enough. An unforgettable experience for our family.
