Eremo Delle Carceri
The Eremo is a peaceful, humble and solitary spot, nestled in the woods where Francis and his followers dwelled in caves as hermits. The stunning view of the green valley and the surrounding hills you can enjoy from the little cloister is just amazing!
San Damiano
In this simple, silent and inspiring place Francis composed the Canticle of the Creatures, the famous Crucifix of Saint Damien asked Him to repair the Church which was falling into ruin and Saint Clare spent her spiritual life with her companions.

5.00We toured Assisi with our family of 7 adults, and Maura was an absolute pleasure to work with. She is highly knowledgeable and expertly tailors the experience to her group. Her tours are thorough and unhurried, and she does a fantastic job setting expectations—like detailing upcoming walking distances and terrain—which was incredibly helpful for my aging parents. Maura is deeply passionate about her region and loves sharing Umbria's rich history. I will definitely book her again when I return with my children!

5.00Maura was the best guide for our family trip to learn about St. Francis. She did such a good job explaining the history of Assisi and showing us places we wouldn’t have found on our own. She’s a warm, friendly guide with a great sense of humor and immediately integrated with our group. I’d highly recommend using Maura as your guide.

5.00I don't even know where to begin. Our guide, Maura, gave us the most personal, detailed, informative tour that we truly felt like we WERE walking in the footsteps of St. Francis. We are doing a tour of Italy for a special occasion and Maura made this trip extra special. I would HIGHLY recommend Maura as your next guide. You will NOT regret it. Best day on our trip hands down!

5.00The tour of the surrounding areas of Assisi - San Damiano, the hermitage and St. Maria degli Angeli - with Maura was the best excursion on our 8 day trip to Italy. Maura is not only knowledgeable around the history of St. Francis and the history of the Franciscan order but was born and raised in the region so has local knowledge of the area if you are interested. Her English is impeccable! Maura is truly a delight and a kind soul. Being in her presence was such a gift!

5.00In our first visit to Assisi, my wife and I hired Maura Baldoni to give us a private tour of “Surroundings of Assisi: in the Footsteps of Saint Francis” which included Santa Maria degli Angeli Basilica, San Damiano Church and Eremo delle Carceri. I had read quite a bit about St. Francis before the trip, but still, I learned a lot from Maura. Her story gave us a deeper understanding of the role these (beautiful) places played in the lives of St. Francis and St. Claire. We also learned about Maura, her family, and the Italian culture. The tour started at 9 AM and ended at noon just like she had described. Maura speaks English fluently and we had no problem understanding her. Since we didn’t have a car, she negotiated the taxis for us. If there’s any regret, it is that we forgot to take pictures at San Damiano 😃Otherwise, we enjoyed the tour and would gladly recommend it to others! PS: I found Maura through internet search, and I contacted her by email two months before our trip. I loved her answer when I asked her about the cancellation policy: “There’s no cancellation policy. I trust that you will come.” So simple 😃

5.00Maura was wonderful, sweet, very knowledgeable and patient. She took us to the places we were most interested in and took the time to explain everything. We recommend her tours sooo much!! She actually does Umbria tours in general . We would definitely use her again when visiting other cities in Umbria .

5.00Maura is an excellent tour guide. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our day with her. She is extremely knowledgeable and personable :). We both agreed that we wished we had more time in Umbria so that we could spend another day with Maura exploring Perugia and Gubbio. We had gone on our own however Mauras knowledge and recommendations really made our holiday memorable ❤️
