This four-hour lunchtime food tour explores Santa Tere, one of Guadalajara’s most food-focused neighbourhoods. Known for its busy markets, street carts, and family-run eateries, this food tour showcases the real culinary side to city through 13+ tastings The experience begins with regional classics such as tamales de mole verde and the city’s signature torta ahogada. As the walk continues, you’ll sample comforting lunchtime favourites including chilaquiles rojos, rich birria broth, and both goat and beef birria tacos. Stops at local mercados introduce dishes like quesadillas de flor de calabaza, local queso tastings, sopita de frijoles, and carne en su jugo slow-cooked in its own juices. Along the way, you'll also try regional drinks too like tejuino con limón and refreshing horchata. The tour finishes with local sweets including creamy jericalla and tequila-flavoured ice cream. This guided lunchtime walk provides an authentic introduction to Guadalajara’s food culture.

5.00What a spectacular tour! I really enjoyed learning about the history of the local cuisine of Guadalajara and Jalisco, as well as the traditional recipes featured on the tour. The fact that the businesses are all local and family-owned was a huge plus for me as well. Our guide, Delfino, was knowledgeable and fun to spend time with. I’ll definitely be recommending this tour to anyone visiting the Guadalajara area!

5.00Great food and a very knowledgeable guide! I thought I knew a lot about Mexican food, particularly in Jalisco, but I learned a good deal from this walk around one of Guadalajara’s most interesting - and authentic - neighborhoods. A well-timed tour, though definitely don’t eat breakfast before you go. There is a lot of fantastic eating here.

5.00Terrific food tour with Anwar! He related food to its history, and had pictures to share. He knows the neighborhood very well, and explained the history of this working class neighborhood bordering Colonia Americana Having lived in the U.S. and returning after university, he speaks very natural English...which makes a difference.

5.00From the great tamales at the first stop, everything in between (tacos, birrieria) to the Passion Fruit sorbet at the final stop. You really need to take notes to keep track of so many tasty items. Everything was top notch and delicious. One of the best walking tours of Guadalajara that my wife and I truly enjoyed. Thanks Anwar for adding the local history, to watching them make tortillas, it was all fabulous.

5.00This was a delightful and delicious experience. Anwar is an exceptional tour guide who adds flavor (pun intended) by explaining cultural and historical significance and interesting local facts. There are so many wonderful tastes and opportunities to sample local cuisine. My wife and I got very full by the last restaurant. The final location for a cool and refreshing dessert was perfect.
