Mount Maunganui
Your driver/guide will take you on an interesting journey through the different aspects of life in Tauranga. From the forming of the landscape, the arrival of man and the founding of the city, through to the different produce grown in the province and what modern life is like in the area. Departing from the port gates you will travel through Mount Maunganui township past Mauao the iconic landmark mountain and one of New Zealand’s most popular beaches "The Mount Main Beach" home of surfing, professional beach volleyball and surf lifesaving competitions.
Tauranga
Crossing over the Tauranga harbour bridge you will go through the Port of Tauranga and hear about how industry has shaped Tauranga to be the busiest port in New Zealand and see stunning views of the harbour and Matakana Island. In Tauranga you will see some of the earliest European settlement buildings in New Zealand, beautiful gardens and hear about the settlement of Maori and Europeans in the Bay of Plenty, creating the city of Tauranga as it is today.

5.00We had an amazing tour with Russell. He was waiting right outside the port and the 11 seat van was close by. We left right on time. Not only did we learn as we went, we saw many interesting things, and hopped out at several points to listen, see and learn (the beach near the port, harbour across from the port, public garden/greenhouse/rose garden, tea shop/café, kiwifruit orchard and scenic lookout). We tasted fruit tea at the tea shop, and in the kiwifruit orchard, we were treated to fresh green kiwifruit, dried yellow kiwifruit, avocado, and bread with various oils and hot sauces. The vines were heavy with the growing kiwifruit and it was an amazing sight for those of us whose countries import kiwifruit (Canadians!). We highly recommend this engaging, informative and fun tour!

5.00Went for the kiwi and found the history and current state of affairs in Tauranga very interesting as well. Russell C was a font of knowledge about the city, region and country combined with almost a horticulturalist level of expertise on kiwi introduction, production and economic impact for New Zealand. Kiwi, avocado, oils and local hot sauce for tasting. Kiwi skin tastes OK and has most of the nutrients. Good job

5.00Russell was an excellent driver and guide, taking us on a fun tour of Tauranga. The highlight was visiting a kiwi farm and tasting the different varieties of kiwi as well as avocado. Would highly recommend this tour!

5.00Relaxing and informative day with Robert. Our day with Robert was like being with a friend or your neighbor. Would highly recommend this tour to get an overview of the area. My favorite part of the day was learning about kiwi growing and seeing the crops. Tasting kiwi and avocado products was fun as well. Thank you, Robert

5.00Every minute well spent on this excellent tour. Russell‘s broad knowledge of the history, culture, local community, plants, and animals made for a great half day tour. He could answer every question in a very pleasant manner. The visit to the Kiwi Orchard to learn about growing, harvesting and marketing the fruit was fascinating, along with the samples. Made a nice lunch stop at a local café/coffee shop with interesting local menu. We were unable to climb Mt. Maunganui, due to the recent landslides, which will close the area for the near future.
