We walked off the ship and along to the area where tours are gathered. A little market was happening nearby. Gorgeous area. Take a photo of your tour company name so you can recognize them Great trip to Hells gate. Paul was a great guide. Thanks for the toilet stop. Fascinating to see the thermal spas. Plenty of time to see it all.

We had a wonderful experience! Prompt pickup from our cruise ship on to Hells Gate. Our guide was charming providing all kinds of insight during the drive. Hells Gate was a lunar landscape full of hot pools and mud pots. We did the full walk followed by soaks in both the mud and sulfur pools. One word advice: we packed our oldest and rattiest swimsuits with intentional abandonment once we were done.

Driver Gary was at the meeting point early and drove the group about 90 minutes to Hells Gate. He provided great commentary driving through town, along the beautiful Bay of Plenty and over the scenic hills and dales to Rotorua. The walk in the Geothermal Park was just amazing. And the mud bath and spa relaxing and fun. Then back in the van for a ride back to the ship well ahead of final. boarding time. Just a terrific adventure overall.

The Hells Gate tour was by far the most interesting tour we took during our time in New Zealand. Our guide "Cookie" was awesome and his knowledge of the area was outstanding. We had never done a mud bath but the entire Hells Gate experience is one we'll always remember. I very highly recommend "Things To Do In Tauranga". I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

Came off a cruise ship, met at the red flag and waited for Alan to take us to the Geothermal Park. The drive took over an hour (traffic from the cruise passengers affected the city lol), with some useful commentaries. Comfortable bus. He then handed us over to the staff at the location who gave us quick instructions for a self-guided tour, followed by mud bath. The walk was interesting. Mud bath is timed for 20 minutes with unlimited time afterwards to spend in the Sulfur pool. Overall a very interesting experience and relaxing! Alan was great, catering for our dinner time also, as the trip ran a little late. Tickets are cheaper at the gates but would require you getting yourself there and back somehow. Loved the free wifi on the bus trip too! Highly recommended.
