Metekhi Cathedral

Virgin Mary Metekhi church is located on the left bank of the river Mtkvari, on the cliff plateau. The first church on this place was probably built by Vakhtang Gorgasali, symbolically resembling the church built on virgin Mary’s tomb in Gethsemane garden in Jerusalem. According to the legend, the former catholicos Kirion transferred the saint Shushanik to this church in the 7th century.

The time is enough to see the city at a good pace, the tour guide so knowledgeable and answered even general questions about the country. There was enough time for each spot to take pictures. Soso was an amazing tour guide, very thoughtful and informative

A lot of fun Started at 10am Great trip which included lunch and a drink and a ride up on the vehicular. Nice bunch of 8 people. Loads of info. Tori was a great guide and super informative

The four-hour tour of Tbilisi was wonderful. Our guide, Beku, was absolutely amazing — he shared a lot of interesting information, and the whole experience was very fun. We’ve already booked our next tour through this company. The guys are simply fantastic — I’m delighted!

Excellent tour with Ella. Such value for money, especially including the cable car to Mother Georgia and the bakery lunch. Could not have been more comprehensive. Ella was friendly, spoke perfect English and was so knowledgeable about the city and its history. Highly recommended.

Fantastic city tour with Ella the Law student. We could not have had a better experience. A small group size, a perfect mix of history, culture, food, politics. Honestly, this tour was next level. It included a pastry and lemonade from an authentic bakery and the cable car ride to Mother Georgia. We have done many city walking tours but going to a church where a funeral was taking place was a first. Everything about this tour with Ella was perfection and I think it was the best value we have had from any Viator experience.
