A chocolate experience to remember!

See and touch the fruit of the chocolate tree, and learn all about how the beans are transformed into delicious chocolate.

Have fun making your own Scottish-themed chocolate to take home! You can even make a chocolate Greyfriar's Bobby, a chocolate Nessie or a chocolate Edinburgh Castle!

Next, come to the tasting room with a wide selection of chocolates from both Scottish and international chocolate makers. There are over 30 varieties to choose from including Haggis chocolate, Japanese chocolate, chilli chocolate, gin chocolate and many, many more.

Finally, wrap your delicious chocolates to take home to enjoy or give as a gift.

Chocolate samples are provided throughout the tour. Vegan or milk-free options are available.

My husband and I booked an experience for something to do on a wet Tuesday afternoon in November. The Chocolatarium was very easy to find on foot, not sure I would enjoy driving to the location. At all times, dietary requirements (and health & safety) are catered for. Our guide was McKenzie (sp?). He was very entertaining and knowledgeable. The experience consists of three parts, the information session which starts with delicious hot chocolate and covers the where, what and how of the plant. You then move on to making your own bar of milk or dark choc. using your choice of mould and toppings - you pick them up on your way out, beatifully presented in a wee cellophane bag. Then it's on to the tasting session which start with chocolate tastes over the centuries followed by a chance to choose umpteem samples from a huge range of flavoured milk, dark and white chocolate. Time passes very quickly. The site shop sells SO many different chocolate varieties there should be something for everyone. I would highly recommend this experience.

Our guide was named Coco, and that was the first big selling point 🤩 the tour was very informative, very entertaining, and absolutely delicious. The packaging of the chocolates that they sell are enchanting, and I am very excited about the Scottish cow chocolate that I was able to make as part of the tour. Thank you so very much, Coco!

We loved our tour at the Chocolatarium. Meg was very knowledgeable and delivered the session in a fun and engaging way. We had the opportunity to make our own chocolates and the chocolate tasting was very generous! Throughout the experience Meg gave us very interesting information regarding the history and manufacturing process of chocolate. Would highly recommend!

Sounds kitchy but it was so much fun honestly! Very knowledgeable staff with lots but not too much information. Very cool to taste the difference in the terroir when it comes to otherwise identical chocolate. High recommend (though tbh not sure if kids >12 have the patience)

Would highly recommend the chocolate and wine pairing. It was so educational learning about the source of cocoa beans and matching wine to complement the flavours. Big shout out to our guide, she was very informative and kept the tour engaging with humour with some funny stories. Making your own chocolate was really fun

I’d highly recommend this experience! It was such a fun, engaging, and informative afternoon. From sampling rich hot chocolate to crafting our own flavored bars, learning what affects the taste of cacao beans, and experimenting with unique combinations — every part of the 90-minute session was a delight. A truly scrumptious experience by Emma from start to finish!

This was a lovely activity and the perfect mid afternoon pick-me-up after an early flight. The experience was informative, we really enjoyed the creativity of the making and the tasting room was a special treat. Great time!
